Position Description

The Social Work Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Seattle University (SU) invites applications for a Field Director position. The Field Director is a three year renewable term faculty open-rank (assistant, associate, or full) clinical professor position.

Rank is commensurate with experience. Anticipated position start date: July 1, 2024.

The SU Social Work Dept. has a CSWE-accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. Field Director administers and is responsible for the overall operation of the Social Work field education program for BSW and MSW programs, including development, management, and assessment of the field practicum program; training and supervision of field faculty; and ensuring compliance with all Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) regarding Field education. As a faculty, the Field Director may teach undergraduate or graduate social work courses and is expected to provide appropriate service to the Department, College, and University.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in knowledge and practice in social work field education and commitment to social and economic justice.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

An MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program; a minimum of 3 years of social work field education experience (including field liaison, field practicum instructor, field seminar instructor, or field director/assistant field director/field program coordinator experiences); a minimum of 4 years of post-MSW degree social work practice experience (practice experience may be simultaneous with the field education experience); a minimum of 2 years of program management, program development, or clinical supervision experience; and a minimum of 1 year of social work teaching experience.

Preferred Requirements:

Successful experience in social work field education administration; a successful record of social work teaching experience; successful experience in completing a self-study for the CSWE accreditation or re-affirmation; and evidence of anti-oppressive practice experience in clinical social work.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $73,000 - $80,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
