Salary Range: $20.00 to $22.62 per hour. This is a full time, non-exempt (hourly) position.

Services For Adults (SFA) is a part of the Adult Services Division of the Mecklenburg County Department of Child, Family, and Adult Services. The division is responsible for four main program areas: Adult Social Work Services, Community Social Work, the Senior Citizens Nutrition Program, and the Mecklenburg Transportation System (MTS).

Position Specific Information

This position will be working at senior nutrition sites to provide meal service to seniors, plan activities and events, and complete eligibility assessments.

Other duties include data entry, preparation of weekly and monthly reports and referring seniors to aging resources.

Candidate must be willing to do home visits to complete eligibility assessments. Work Schedule is M-F 8:30 AM-5 PM.

Essential Functions

Conduct research and assimilate information for planning and implementation of activities that stimulate body and mind of seniors

Collaborate with Community Partners to leverage nutrition support, social, educational and health resources to seniors

Receive, hold and serve food per North Carolina Food Safety regulations

Recruit, train and supervise adult volunteers in site operations

Drive a county vehicle (CDL is not required) to take seniors on recreational/educational day trips

Complete applications for assistance programs and services

Monitor inventory and place order for supplies

Complete eligibility assessments for enrollment in the program

Data entry in software applications

Prepare monthly reports

Other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of two years of related experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Licenses and Certifications:

Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's license

Requires County Driving Privileges

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree preferred in a related field.

Previous experience planning and implementing of group activities, preferably for independent, active seniors.

Previous experience teaching or presenting to groups.

Broad knowledge in Gerontology and/or Food Safety.

Knowledge of Foodservice and previous related experience.

Excellent customer service, communication, and time management skills.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) proficiency oral and written.

Computer Skills

Proficient in applicable computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Publisher.
