Salary Range: $20.00 to $22.62 per hour. This is a full time, non-exempt (hourly) position.

Services For Adults (SFA) is a part of the Adult Services Division of the Mecklenburg County Department of Child, Family, and Adult Services. The division is responsible for four main program areas: Adult Social Work Services, Community Social Work, the Senior Citizens Nutrition Program, and the Mecklenburg Transportation System (MTS).

Position Specific Information

Individual in this position will primarily support the County's Mobile Market Food Program (Pantry) 3-4 days a week. Individual will also perform duties for the congregate / home-delivered programs on non-Mobile Market Food Program days. Work schedule will be Monday

  • Friday 7:00 am

  • 3:30 pm on Mobile Pantry days and 8:30 am

  • 5:00 pm on non-pantry days. On-job training will be provided for the three programs.

Employee in this position must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds of food boxes and/or produce/vegetables/fruit in order to load and unload the truck. Other physical demands include standing long periods of time (minimum 3-4 hours), for example while the Mobile Market Program takes place, and frequent stretching and bending. Employee must also be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions as needed.

On non-Mobile Market days, the position will provide coverage at nutrition sites (congregate program) and complete in-home visits for eligibility assessments with senior population.

Essential Functions

Conduct research and assimilate information for planning and implementation of activities that stimulate body and mind of seniors

Collaborate with Community Partners to leverage nutrition support, social, educational and health resources to seniors

Receive, hold and serve food per North Carolina Food Safety regulations

Recruit, train and supervise adult volunteers in site operations

Drive a county vehicle (CDL is not required) to take seniors on recreational/educational day trips

Complete applications for assistance programs and services

Monitor inventory and place order for supplies

Complete eligibility assessments for enrollment in the program

Data entry in software applications

Prepare monthly reports

Other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of two years of related experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Licenses and Certifications:

Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's license

Requires County Driving Privileges

Preferred Qualifications

Previous work experience with senior population.

Excellent customer service, communication, time management and computer skills.

Bilingual (Spanish and English) proficiency oral and written.
