JOB SUMMARY:
To provide clinical orientation and ongoing clinical supervision to masters' prepared clinicians, bachelor degree associates (MHA's) and interns in the Behavioral Health service line.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Illinois upon hire or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Illinois upon hire.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5-7 years experience with clinical work
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Multicultural sensitivity Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Advanced reading, writing and oral skills
Ability to utilize PC including, basic elements of Windows environment, keyboarding, work with mouse, and perform basic computer tasks with instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in the professional development of Mental Health Clinicians by providing clinical supervision to clinicians/counselors and orientation to new clinicians/counselors.
Ensures clinical quality by providing clinical supervision on a regular basis for all Mental Health Clinicians and maintaining supervisory notes
Serves as expert resource on clinical issues and is available for urgent consultation for clinical issues
Observes/monitors individual, family and group therapy sessions and discharge planning for each clinician on a regular basis, providing feedback on performance
Assists in medical record reviews and discusses clinical issues with Clinician as identified from the reviews/audits
Assures Clinicians' compliance with regulatory and professional standards
Participates in clinical staffing with the interprofessional team, modeling appropriate clinical presentation of cases
Collaborates with Managers regarding Clinician performance, including any employee discipline in which clinical issues are involved
Provides feedback to Managers for Clinicians' annual performance evaluations
Assists Managers in orienting new employees (clinicians); assures orientation checklist is completed and keeps Manager apprised of progress
Assists in the annual review and revision of orientation package
Works with manager to assure that orientation schedule is meeting the needs of the orientee
Assists Executive Director, Managers and Clinical Nurse Educator in the development of annual competencies and educational offerings focused on Evidence Based Practices
Ensures quality services are provided by assisting in performance improvement activities for the Behavioral Health Service Line.
Participates in performance improvement teams to address issues impacting clinical quality
Participates in policy/procedure committees; provides input to ensure best practices and compliance with regulatory standards
Maintains knowledge of current Evidence Based Practices to ensure policies/procedures support such
Assists in data collection and analysis for quality improvement purposes in a timely and thorough manner
Demonstrates initiative in the identification of opportunities for improvement as well as the implementation of countermeasures to improve services
Actively participates in goal planning, service line performance evaluation (dashboard), etc as a member
Manages clinical internships for Bachelor's level and Masters level interns in social work and psychology.
Works with college/university faculty to ensure a quality clinical experience that meets the interns' educational requirements
Recruits intern candidates and determines appropriate clinical sites in collaboration with program managers and university faculty advisors
Provides clinical supervision for interns
Works with managers to ensure intern's high performance and strong clinical experience is maintained
Maintains ongoing communication with faculty, providing feedback on intern performance; completes evaluations of interns meeting established due dates
Collaborates with community providers in the planning and implementation of clinical programming
Works with various institutions of higher learning to provide feedback on educational needs for future staff
Participates in various community committees that address behavioral health needs (new programming, revised processes) in the community; shares information with the Executive Director
Assists the Executive Director and others as requested in developing/improving clinical components of the service line as identified by internal feedback (physicians, executives, other units, BH staff and managers, etc) and external feedback from various community providers, agencies and schools
Serves as a Service Line liaison with schools and various community providers
Uses creativity and patient advocacy in assisting with the planning and implementation of new programs within the Service Line
