The County of Yolo is recruiting for one regular, full-time position in the class of Social Services Assistant at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.

Note:This recruitment will be open on a continuous basis until the position is filled.

Position

This position will be assigned to the Restorative Justice and Diversion Program. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8-5pm, and there may be occasional overtime/flex schedule permitted with prior permission. A remote work schedule is a possibility for this position but would need to be in compliance with District Attorney's office policy on remote work.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency with Zoom and Microsoft Office software. Proficiency in LawSuite or other digital case management software is also desired. Candidates with experience in and/or a strong understanding of traditional court, diversion, and restorative justice processes are preferred. Key personal characteristics of the successful candidate will include good interpersonal, conflict mediation, and problem-solving skills; organizational skills and attention to detail; self-motivation, reliability, and a strong work ethic; and the ability to work effectively in groups and/or independently.

The following is an example of the types of duties that will be performed in this position:

  • Initiate client contact, answers and directs program phone calls;

  • Perform client intake interviews to obtain relevant economic, medical and social information;

  • Assist clients in gathering information relating to application, continuation or termination of social service programs and in completing related documents;

  • Receive and process documents;

  • Prepare a variety of simple forms, documents, applications, letters, and email communications related to program processes;

  • Assist clients in tasks related to self-sufficiency.

  • Interact with governmental, community and social service agencies on behalf of the client and/or agency;

  • Support connection of clients to appropriate treatment providers and/or community resources;

  • Confer with supervisor and/or professional staff on client functioning and service plan

  • Set up and maintain spreadsheets, case files and records;

  • Perform program-related clerical duties and data entry;

  • Schedule and coordinate client appointments/conferences, as needed;

  • Support client engagement in conference and completion of treatment and/or other diversion programming;

  • Perform client follow-up and check-ins;

  • Participate in training programs; and

  • other duties as needed.

Employment Standards

Experience: Six months paid or unpaid experience working with children, the elderly, disabled, ill, or convalescent persons.

Knowledge of:needs, problems, attitudes and behavior of children, adults and the aged; basic community resources and related social services agencies; basic procedures, services and goals of social service agencies; basic record keeping techniques; basic principles in dealing with the public; acceptable household management and personal care standards such as methods of home laundering, basic nutrition, household money management and budgeting, personal health and hygiene methods and standards; basic arithmetic.

Ability to:establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in work; understand and accept differences in human behavior; recognize need for service and secure appropriate assistance of resource; follow written and oral instructions; keep routine records and write routine reports; drive an automobile; motivate and train clients to improve standards of home and family management; analyze situations and take effective action; make basic arithmetical computations; learn and understand agency programs, policies and procedures and interpret them to clients and the public; relate to people in emotionally stressful situations and persons of varying cultural and economic backgrounds; read and write at the high school level; learn interviewing and problem solving techniques; be flexible in daily tasks; read a road map.

License
