Overview
As the Social Media Specialist, this position is to serve as the gatekeeper for all existing Touro University Nevada (Touro) social media accounts. This position is responsible for ensuring consistent messaging to promote and enhance Touro University Nevada's mission (to provide quality education programs in the fields of healthcare and education in concert with the Judaic commitment to social justice, intellectual pursuit, and service to humanity). The Social Media Specialist will promote the university's diverse groups of constituents which includes students, faculty, staff, alumni/ae, community partners, donors, etc. This position works with the campus community to understand what can best be done to promote stories from a social media perspective. This position also works closely with students across all programs to help capture and disseminate the students' stories to the university's followers, with an emphasis on prospective students, who follow Touro. The Social Media Specialist must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Ideally, the Social Media Specialist will demonstrate high creativity with skills for finding interesting and fun stories to help personalize and promote the Touro experience and highlight what makes Touro so special.

Responsibilities
Broad Responsibilities
Broad responsibilities include executing the approved content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term digital goals that support the university and its programs to increase brand awareness and user engagement through social media networks. This position proactively elevates the university's academic profile and reputation on social media networks; tracks conversations on social media platforms to gain insights into prospective students' attitudes and preferences toward Touro, devises campaigns that promote student recruitment; plays a pivotal role in the development and execution of growth strategies relating to social media; collects data points from analytics to create regular reports detailing successes and areas for improvement; develops creative and engaging ideas and original content; uses various social media management tools to ensure posts are optimized for maximum reach; and regularly tests new strategies to improve engagement.
Accountabilities:
Manages the university's presence on various social media networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.
Curates content and ensures the content shared with the Touro audience boosts engagement, adds credibility, is relevant and in line with Touro's brand.
Creates and publishes consistent and engaging content with an emphasis on video content.
Stays up to date on current social media trends, revisits and follows up on social media sites and profiles.
Schedules social media for overnight, early morning slots, and holidays in advance.
Analyzes social media insights and metrics to continuously improve content and messaging, reviewing analytic data daily.
Manages an editorial calendar to ensure all program pages are posted consistently to increase brand awareness.
Works with faculty, staff, and students to ensure brand consistency, posting to social media sites, re-posting and replying as needed.
Follows up with creative agencies, internal teams, and program/department heads regularly.
Leverages analytics tools to strengthen social media messaging.
Creates comprehensive plans for major University events or activities.
Other responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, contributing copy, video, and pictures for internal and external communications such as newsletters and emails, and other duties as assigned.

Hours
Mon Thurs, 8:00 am 5:00 pm
Friday, 8:00 am 3:00 pm
Occasional weekend and evening work will be necessary
Given the nature of the Internet and 24/7 news and issues cycle, this role requires availability outside of traditional work hours

Qualifications
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in social media management, business administration, communications, marketing, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, or marketing from an accredited college or university
Meta Certification preferred but not required
Self-motivated and takes initiative
Strong attention to detail
Strong writing and editing skills
Ability to analyze social media insights and trends to tailor content around strategy
Demonstrated ability to work creatively and technically
Good organizational and time-management skills
Ability to contact whomever it takes to get the story
Experience:
1-3 years of demonstrated professional social media experience with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms
Basic understanding of Google analytics Preferred but not required
Basic experience with graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite, PhotoShop, Canva, etc.) Preferred but not required
Experience with social media management software (Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, SocialBee, etc.) Preferred but not required
