The individual in the Social Media Specialist role must have demonstrated an extensive social media experience, and is actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as community development and management, social relationship building, engaging with industry influencers, blogging, social bookmarking, commenting, etc.

Highly qualified candidates are well-connected with the broader social media world and must be able to train others on the use of social media for sales and relationship building, particularly LinkedIn and Twitter, along with influencing others on the importance of social media in business.


The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy which determines programs that use social media marketing techniques to increase visibility, engagement, membership, and traffic across all DDI solutions, as well as implement and manage social media programs

  • Cultivate DDI's social presence on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook, while expanding our YouTube presence, updating all outlets regularly

  • Educate executives, sales, consultants and other DDI employees on social media best practices, usage, creating profiles, and building relationships

  • Actively monitor, listen, and respond to inbound messages and wall posts on all DDI social media profiles, ensuring both private and public social communications reflect brand values and messaging priorities

  • Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities ("marketing R&D")

  • Monitor trends in social media, tools, and applications, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the use of social media at DDI

  • Collaborate with teams to incorporate relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture, sales process, products and services

Basic Qualifications

(These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for the job)

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in the following areas:

  • Creating content specifically geared towards social media outlets

  • Social media tools, techniques, analytics and measurement

  • Experience coaching, teaching, training, and/or facilitating learning

  • Familiarity with social and mobile technology

  • Familiarity with B2B sales processes

  • Strong project management and organizational skills


  • BS/BA in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or similar

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Video production experience, including recording and editing for use on social platforms

  • Graphics experience, including creation and editing for use on social platforms

  • Solid understanding of user-generated content
