Our 10-week Summer Internship Program is an ideal way for both undergraduate and graduate students to gain real-life work experience while learning what a career at Blue Shield of California can offer. Interns work on real-world projects and initiatives while being immersed in all aspects of our business. From interacting with senior leadership to visiting a neighborhood health clinic, interns will build a better understanding of the diversity and complexities of working in the dynamic world of healthcare. Our goal is to build a talent pipeline that will help us grow our company into the future.

Reporting to the VP Corporate Communications the role of the Social Media Communications Specialist is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and the Corporate Communications department in realizing its goals and objectives. This individual will play a key role as part of the Corporate Communications team in delivering and collaborating on all aspects of social media.

Specifically, the Social Media Communications Specialist role will be accountable for:

  • Developing and posting approved content on company channels

  • Monitoring coverage reports to identify how the company story is being discussed on key external sites

  • Video content recording and editing.

  • Bachelor's degree [CB1] (completed or in progress) in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Journalism or Broadcast Journalism, Media Arts, or Film Studies

Candidate Profile and Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the following a plus: Knowledge of industry standard tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects) and camera platforms such as RED, Canon Cinema, and Sony

Key Job Competencies:

  • Expert in social media platforms including but not limited to; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.

  • Great verbal and written communication skills

  • Video recording/editing capabilities
