Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher

The Joyce Middle School is seeking a social-emotional educator to teach a weekly SEL course to Grades 6, 7 and 8. We are seeking an educator with a background in health, wellness or social work to develop and implement a social-emotional learning curriculum that helps to build mindful and resilient students and promotes a positive school community.
License:
DESE Licensure in either: Health/Family and Consumer Sciences OR School Adjustment Counselor, Social Workers
DUTIES
Preferred applicants for the Health Educator position should have the following but not limited to:
Plan and facilitate SEL lessons for 6-8 students
Teach skills necessary to provide understanding of social-emotional skills
Collaborate with grade level teachers to provide the highest quality instruction and support for students.
Adapt the SEL curriculum and differentiate instruction, by using scaffolded instructional material, inclusive practices and SEI strategies, to meet the needs of all students.
Use available technology and digital resources provided by the district to create engaging lessons and supports that are linked with 21st Century skills.
Manage classroom behavior with strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions.
Provide instruction of Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self-confidence, team-building and informed decision making.
Provide a clean, safe and nurturing classroom environment.
Communicate with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations.
Collaborate with school adjustment counselors to refer students who are in need of Social Emotional support.
Collaborate with Special Education and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Principal.
Work collaboratively with the Coordinator for Physical and Emotional Wellness
Other duties as assigned by school principal
