Description:

The Social Content Producer will be primarily responsible for producing breaking and trending news stories across social platforms, including but not limited to Twitter and Instagram. This producer should have solid news judgment and be an excellent writer who can concisely explain news events while maintaining a consistent voice and tone.

You should know everything that people are talking about on the internet, and also what people aren't talking about yet. This person will pitch and produce content to drive conversations around U.S. and world events. Though writing is the top requirement for concisely delivering tweets and other short news posts, producing graphics and short videos are also part of the gig. This role requires editorial experience with sourcing, verifying news and understanding what makes a compelling story.

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily help run AJ+'s Twitter and Instagram accounts, but also contribute to other platforms as needed

  • Lead coverage of live events on social media, including live tweeting or streaming live feeds

  • Take the lead on tracking trends and identify emerging stories on social

  • Curate complementary content to go with stories such as GIFs, memes, etc.

  • Experiment with content creation and distribution strategies for new platforms

  • Analyze social media trends to continually enhance best practices

  • Deliver content with a consistent AJ+ voice and tone across emerging platforms

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree

  • At least 3 years of experience in online journalism.

  • At least 2 years of experience working with social media platforms

Required Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Writing for social media

  • Familiarity with Adobe video and graphic programs

  • Fact-checking/sourcing
