RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Builds a positive relationship with students based on trust, caring, unconditional regard and

individual strengths and needs.

Develops and delivers group instruction in the areas of social and emotional education to all

classes

Incorporates STEM activities and communication and collaboration into the SEL curriculum

Follows the First Steps or Zones of Regulation curriculum to deliver weekly lessons during SEL

special area class

Administers PBIS content and instruction

Keeps current on methods and procedures concerning working with students having social and

emotional needs

Provides instruction and guidance through the Indiana Career Explorer to all students in grades

2-5

Maintains regular attendance

Other duties as assigned by the school Principal

LICENSE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed Social Worker or Counseling Degree preferred

Meet at least one of the following requirements for being considered Highly Qualified:

o Two years of college experience

o A Two-year college degree

o Passed the Para-Pro Assessment (within the first year of employment)

o One year of over 1,000 hours of previous employment experience in a school or working with

children

o Passed annual school-level evaluations

o Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes

o Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentials

o Completed LEA required professional development modules/training

o Completed Other Requirements - LEAs may request approval from IDOE

Operational knowledge of technology

Possess strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
