The Soap Operations Senior Technician is responsible for assisting the Soap Operations Supervisor, Manager and/or Lead Technician in directing the work efforts of the Soap Operations Department of the Sayreville Manufacturing & Packaging Facility in an effort to meet and/or exceed, productivity, safety, quality, delivery and cost goals, and ensure the department operates according to established company policies and procedures.
Operate, changeover, troubleshoot and maintain mixing, pressing, carton, wrap, and case packing soap equipment in an efficient and safe manner. Repair, perform preventive maintenance and deep clean equipment as needed.
Direct and monitor the daily activities & performance of Soap Operations staff to assure compliance of standard procedures, quality and safety. Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consult with Human Resources Department, Lead Technician and Soap Operations Manager as appropriate.
Conduct department or pre-shift meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea sharing and suggestions for improvement.
Confer with other Senior/ Lead Technicians to coordinate operations and activities within and between shifts.
Provide leadership coverage on weekends.
Regularly interact and communicate with various internal departments to provide vital information that may be necessary to meet business demands.
Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within the facility.
Provide & maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activities. Coordinate efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
Assure compliance of all company and local, state and federal regulatory agencies' (i.e., OSHA and FDA) policies and regulations.
Operate Power Industrial Truck equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Comply with all policies, procedures, quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as maintain general housekeeping standards throughout the soap operations area.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, INCLUDING DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (YEARS & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE):
3 - 5 years related manufacturing experience with mechanical aptitude and/or training.
Previous supervisory experience a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES (TYPE & PROFICIENCY):
Ability to change-over, repair, perform preventive maintenance, and deep clean equipment.
Must be able to train/mentor technicians on specific machines.
Must have a mechanical aptitude.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
