JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to Administrative Sergeant, responsible for collecting, maintaining, and handling all digital media evidence property for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO).

  • Oversees, archives, retains, and stores all digital evidence files

  • Receives and process evidence release requests

  • Performs system updates and troubleshooting and serves as IT liaison for various tracking systems

  • Creates and monitors compliance associated with digital evidence tracking processes

  • Assists with requests for videos related to Public Information Act, law enforcement agencies, and court systems

  • Retrieves, reviews, and redacts body worn camera and digital media for distribution to the courts, outside law enforcement agencies, the public, and other requestors.

  • Ensures digital media release is in accordance with discovery mandates, subpoenas, policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal laws

  • Ensure digital evidence is appropriately tagged and categorized according to department policy

  • Monitors and initiates digital evidence disposition upon review of court disposition orders, statute of limitations, and statute requirements

  • Compiles data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring completion by deadlines and in accordance with established goals and objectives

  • Assists other staff in the performance of their duties as assigned; provides backup support to the Digital Media Evidence Coordinator as needed

  • Provides customer service to internal and external customers via email, phone, and in person

  • Attends meetings and trainings as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Three (3) years of records management, inventory control, and/or asset tracking experience

  • Knowledge of record management systems and Microsoft Office Suite

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required six (6) months of employment

  • TCIC (Texas Crime Information Center) Certification

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid Texas driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Vocational or technical degree in related field

  • Prior experience working in a criminal or law enforcement background with emphasis on care, custody, and control of digital evidence

  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
