JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to Crime Scene Supervisor, responsible for performing field tasks associated with the collection, observation and documentation of crime scenes and evidence for the Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO).
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Conducts field routine observations of crime scenes and collects evidence from crime scenes to assist with WCSO investigations
Performs comprehensive latent prints comparisons and processes fingerprints through multiple databases
Compiles and retains daily, monthly, and annual reports related to evidence, fingerprinting and crime scene information for the WCSO
Collaborates and performs analysis to determine identity of victims and suspects related to crime scenes
Transports evidence property to court and testifies in applicable situations pertaining to condition of evidence and crime scene observations
Attends routine autopsies for identification and reporting purposes
Documents and performs forensic photography at crime scenes and processes evidence for trace evidence, and create reports and logs to aid investigations
Collaborates with law enforcement, attorneys, and state agencies to aid with investigations
Transports evidence property to court and testifies in applicable situations pertaining to condition of evidence and crime scene observations
Assists with routine local and state crime reporting and statistics
Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
Performs special duties as assigned

Position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting, and operating equipment
Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather
Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, and high noise levels
Exposure to graphic material (photos, video, and audio) and persons accused or adjudicated of various crimes
Regular travel between work sites as required
IRREGULAR HOURS
Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
Serves on-call on a 24-hour basis
Requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and/or weekend hours
May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years of related crime scene experience including one (1) year of latent print experience
Knowledge of crime reporting databases, photography, and latent fingerprint systems
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field
IAI (International Association for Identification) Crime Scene or Latent Print Certification
Four hundred (400) classroom hours related to crime scene and latent print work including evidence rooms procedures
