About Distance Education:

Distance Education provides an entirely asynchronous, online learning experience that adapts to the unique circumstances of each student. Our fully accredited bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as non-degree credits, empower learners to shape their own educational journey.

With 8 five-week terms for undergraduates and 5 eight-week terms for graduate students, our model offers unparalleled flexibility. You can learn at your own pace, and take breaks as needed. By using your everyday environment as your laboratory, you'll integrate your studies into your daily life.

The Opportunity:

Unity Environmental University Distance Education seeks enthusiastic individuals to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop an upper-level Baccalaureate course in Sustainable Product Stewardship. This course will provide opportunities for students to analyze the environmental impact of products across their life cycle (from material extraction through disposal), learn about strategies for sustainable product design and stewardship, and develop awareness of regulatory and voluntary frameworks that guide sustainable product development. SMEs collaborate closely with a Learning Experience Designer to create engaging learning materials using a backward design approach.

Qualifications

Do you have the skills?:

Graduate degree (Master's minimum, Doctorate preferred) in a field directly related to product development (e.g., industrial engineering, chemistry) or management (e.g., waste management, environmental engineering) or in business with considerable experience related to sustainable product stewardship

Knowledge of and experience related to sustainable product management at all stages, from raw material extraction to production, transport, use, and disposal

Knowledge of regulatory (domestic and international) and voluntary frameworks that guide sustainable product development and management

Knowledge of economic, social, and environmental impacts of manufactured goods at all stages of the life cycle

Experience with collaborative teaching, evidence-based pedagogy, and/or course design preferred.

Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.

Experience with online teaching and/or distance learners is desirable.
