Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:

$32.50 - $34.00

Job Summary

The SME Mechanic is responsible for conducting functional checks, servicing, repairing/replacing of necessary devices, equipment, machinery for supporting production equipment in an assigned area within the plant. The SME mechanic will take ownership over the assigned area and equipment, providing world class operating conditions through methodical inspections and identifying and correcting possible failures before they happen (PM/PdM Program). The SME mechanic is responsible for the preventative/predictive maintenance creation & management for assigned assets to eliminate costly repairs, product loss, and equipment downtime. Working with the maintenance planner/scheduler the SME mechanic will regularly be engaged in activities and projects which contribute to the upkeep of the assets, continuous improvement opportunities, and meeting key performance goals for the plant, including equipment (OA) operational availability and (OEE) overall Equipment Effectiveness.

Work schedule is Monday- Thursday; 5 AM - 3:30 PM

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Exercise proper lockout-tagout procedures and Follow Purple's Safety Guidelines. Make suggestions and provide safety improvements to LOTO procedures in assigned area.

• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection when necessary.

• Create preventive/predictive maintenance procedures using OEM guidelines & industry standard practices, update procedures periodically based on equipment runtime historical data.

• Creation & periodic updates of equipment bill of materials (BOM).

• Assist maintenance and engineering during new machine builds and modifications.

• Periodically attend meetings that involve assets in your assigned area.

• Use root cause analysis methods to solve problems, decrease downtime and improve equipment overall availability, overall equipment effectiveness, & preventative/predictive maintenance programs.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area

• Define procedures or standards, based upon subject matter expertise and knowledge regarding the proper way to execute a task.

• Define performance objectives and determine acceptable performance levels.

• Provide recommendations for procedural improvements

• Understand the language/terms/jargon in his/her area of expertise.

• Understand requisite knowledge that underlies effective decision-making Act as the "go-to" person within a department or function for questions and problems within his/her area of expertise.

• Explain area of expertise clearly to others. Answer questions on how things are done and explain why.

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

• Lockout-tagout, fall protection, and RCA (root cause analysis) training is a plus.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.

• Attention to detail when performing job duties.

• Experience with L2L or other Maintenance Management systems.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Computer proficiency is essential.

• Ability to operate forklifts.

• Must be flexible and willing to adjust your schedule to accommodate equipment downtime or departmental needs

• Must be a team player.

• Ability to describe where anomalies or flaws may occur in decision-making.

• 10 years of industrial mechanical experience

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience working in progressive maintenance capacity.

• Associates Degree and 5 years of progressive maintenance experience. (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 5 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions may occasionally include:

• The worker is subject to a variety of environmental conditions, both inside and out.

• The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from weather.

• The worker is subject to extreme cold - temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of over one hour.

• The worker is subject to extreme heat - temperatures in excess of 100 degrees for periods of over one hour.

• The worker is subject to noise - sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the surrounding noise level.

• The worker is subject to vibration - exposure to oscillation movement of the extremities of the whole body.

• The worker is subject to hazards. This category includes, but is not limited to, close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, elevated working surfaces, exposure to heat and exposure to chemicals (airborne and/or skin exposure).

• The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions - one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

• Worker may be required to travel to other locations to support other machines or facility needs.
