By 2020, it is estimated that there will be 13B addressable smart home devices in the US and that the global smart home industry, which includes smart entertainment, smart environment (e.g., lighting, thermostats), and smart security will reach $58.7 billion (17% 5-year CAGR). 54% of US consumers are excited about smart home technology, yet only 6% of households have adopted it to date, highlighting the opportunity for growth. The vision for Smart Home Services is to tackle this segment by building a work-force of Amazon employees who are experts in smart home technology to deliver, install, and set up Alexa devices to create the Amazon smart home.

Amazon is looking for a self-driven individual who has an obsession with Customer satisfaction and a passion for consumer technology. The field technician will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting technology products in Customers' homes as well as providing expert product advice. The successful candidate will have an immediate and distinct impact on the experience of Amazon Customers and therefore a strong record of Customer obsession, high judgment, and delivery of results are key requirements for the role. Additionally, the successful candidate must have a curious mind and a desire to learn new technology as the role will support a variety of products. Core Job Responsibilities

  • Travel to customers' homes to set up or help troubleshoot technology products

  • Identify opportunities to delight customers during the visit by going above and beyond the initial customer request

  • Advise customers on products that meet their needs

  • Review products and provide helpful guides through blog entries or videos

  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, always portraying the company in a positive light

  • Share customer feedback and insights with fellow field technicians and other Amazon teams

  • Willingness to work with power/hand tools, handling of low/line voltage, and installations that may require home modifications (i.e., door lock, TV mounting)

  • Flexibility with full-time schedule, including shift assignments on weekends/evenings

  • Possesses a valid driver's license and has access to an automobile

The Field Service Engineer position is ideal for a self-motivated adventurer, as there will be travel, both domestic and international. Initial training on our systems will be conducted in the West Sacramento,CA facility. The Field Service Engineer will schedule and perform on-site installation, service, and repair of complex agricultural sorting equipment and will verify and approve the equipment's operational quality. Key Responsibilities• Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities to ensure full functionality according to specifications. * Perform all mechanical, electrical, electronic and optical tuning and setup. * Analyze, evaluate, and diagnose equipment problems independently. * Conduct customer-training sessions on utilization and basic maintenance of system. * Service and maintain installed equipment and preventive maintenance visits. * Manage and control tools, test equipment, technical documentation and other assigned equipment. * Prepare and submit applicable field service documentation. * Other duties may include, but are not limited to, instructing/training customers on operation and maintenance of equipment. Key RequirementsRequired * Experience in field service and customer support. * Working knowledge of basic analog and digital circuits, electrical power circuits, PLC circuits. * Working knowledge of basic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters. * Knowledge of computer hardware and configurations. * Basic knowledge of MS Office products; Word, Excel and PPT * Ability to read schematics * Strong problem solving skills with the ability to work on problems of diverse scope. * Assist and support customers in a professional manner. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, internal and external associates, and management. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with customers in the English language are necessary. * Extensive travel (~80%) by car and by air, with overnight travel required. * Comfortable in a hands-on role working on capital/industrial equipment * Job requires frequent bending and kneeling, lifting of up to 80 lbs. * Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport. * Must have a valid driver's license * Must be able to pass criminal background check. Desired * An Associate's degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, mechatronics, sustainable manufacturing, or industrial engineering is preferred. * Experience in electronic system troubleshooting a plus. * Spanish and other languages are a plus.
