Position Title: Small Business Portfolio Manager

SUMMARY: The Small Business Banking Portfolio Manager is a key component of the shared risk management responsibilities between the sales force and risk management. Responsibilities include: reviewing and analyzing of the current Bank's loan portfolio as well as making decisions on credit packages for matured/new Small Business Banking loans within the Bank's loan portfolio. Small Business Banking Portfolio Manager will be responsible for general screening of the commercial banking portfolio within the threshold of Small Business to ensure the banks' profitability goals and UCB's risk management strategies are balanced appropriately, and effective portfolio management practices are adhered to.
High School diploma or equalivant
College Degree (concentration in Finance or Accounting preferred). BA/BS
Minimum of 5 years of banking experience (preferably in credit analysis or loan review).
Minimum of 2 years directly involved in Commercial/Business Banking lending/risk
management including interaction with line sales objectives.
Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytics.
Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills.
Multi-tasked, creative, problem solver, demonstrated attention to detail, goal-oriented team player.
Strong organizational and logic skills required.
Strong understanding of Regulatory framework governing Commercial Banking.
Working knowledge of UCB Bank Operating Systems, UCB Bank loan policies and procedures.
Independent Decisioner with Positive Pro-Business Attitude required.
Ability to function without daily oversight must be self-motivated and self-disciplined.
Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
Review and provide oversight of the various portfolio management reports each month (past dues, upcoming maturities, financial covenants etc) in order to minimize credit exceptions.
Provide support to account managers ensuring group risk goals are met and UCB Bank pricing and credit policies are followed.
The Small Business Banking Portfolio Manager is an advocate for the sales team through cross sell efforts within existing relationships.
Approves, within delegated authorities, client strategies and transactions
Provides initial decision for transactions and strategies over delegated authorities to the Small Business Group Underwriting and Portfolio Manager.
Updates and reviews critical monitoring and compliance standards such as but not limited to, Financial Covenants, Breaches and Reporting's.
Executes matrices for pricing of a credit to meet target pricing and balance risk and return.
Realizes team synergies through networking and partnerships across UCB and by seeking out diversity of viewpoints.
Embraces change, acting as an advocate and role model and promoting a mindset of continuous improvement.
When utilized for Underwriter Responsibilities, PM will ensure satisfactory turnaround of loan request to ensure the needs of clients (internal and external) are met supporting the overall Bank's strategic and profitability goals; maximizing profitability and minimizing risk.
Proactively looks for cross-sell opportunities to anchor and deeper client relationships.
May attend market meetings as scheduled to keep abreast of sales efforts, goals, as well as challenges to the ongoing performance of the bank's loan portfolio.
Expected to aggressively recognize and move out weak loans where possible.
May attend one sales meeting a year with agenda time allotted for discussion of issues/concerns/trends as well as providing/arranging to address and rectify training gaps identified.
Provide on the job training for Account Managers, trainees, and analysts as needed or requested.
