As a First Volunteer Small Business Underwriter, you will work independently to perform underwriting and exercise individual personal loan authority, for small business and small commercial real-estate loan requests. You will take ownership of and responsibility for loans that fall within the BLT500 platform. You will work with retail and small business bankers within the footprint of the bank.
Work both independently and with the bank's small business underwriting unit, to underwrite and approve small business and commercial real estate loan requests from the banks retail lenders.
Ownership and responsibility for the BLT500 platform. Small Business loans from $2,500 to $500,000 relationships.
Use your independent loan authority to seek to find loan structure alternatives to requests that are not workable in order to meet the Customer's and Bank's needs, while remaining within the Bank's risk tolerances.
While making sure that loan quality standards are maintained, position also ensures that the loan requests moves through the underwriting process smoothly and as quickly as prudence allows.
Maintains the Bank's lending and risk policies and standards, along with regulatory compliance guidelines, in all lending decisions.
Is ultimately responsible for the quality and accuracy of all written documentation of loan decisions and underwriting that is used to support credit decisions.
Is active in servicing existing loan portfolios that are assigned and is responsible that periodic servicing has been performed.
Performs all additional duties and activities as directed by the Underwriting Manager and or Chief Credit Officer.
College Degree Concentration in Business, Finance, Accounting
Skills and Competencies
Minimum of two years of small business underwriting and or lending experience
Strong understanding of personal and business financial statements and tax returns
Strong analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability and desire to make loan decisions and exercise individual loan authority
Ability to work within an underwriting team
Ability to work with customers across our footprint
Knowledge of regulatory compliance.
