The Pace University Small Business Development Center's (SBDC) mission is to provide in-depth and confidential one-on-one business advisement, training, and market research to help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs grow or launch their businesses. Our center's no-cost services include helping our clients to access financing; developing business plans and financial projections; identifying procurement opportunities, in particular for minority and women-owned businesses; and implementing strategies for increasing sales.

The intern will work with the SBDC's Director and Business Advisors to deliver services in:

  • Project Management

  • Handle business assistance inquiries from entrepreneurs and arrange meetings with SBDC advisors as well as other relevant resources

  • Communicate with existing clients regarding small business progress

  • Manage ongoing updates of the contacts database

  • Small Business Assistance Programming

  • Client Advisory - work alongside business advisors and join client meetings to complete project deliverables such as business plans, website, and social media marketing strategies, financial projections, and business growth strategies

  • Market Research - help clients to identify demographic, economic, and other key data through our network's Research Network

  • SBDC Center Marketing

  • Community outreach regarding prospective collaborations in support of small business clients

  • Help develop the website and social media content to build awareness of the Pace SBDC and its services.

Current student in the Lubin School of Business preferred with a focus in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, Finance, or other appropriate disciplines

Project management, case management, and/or customer service experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing social media accounts, developing websites, and/or graphic design is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs

Must handle confidential information in a discreet manner and work independently.
