We Require
Three (3) years of professional library experience
Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited school
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license.
We Also Value
One (1) year of supervisory and/or lead experience.
Public library experience.
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Job Contributions
Manages the operations of a small branch library; supervises subordinate staff to include scheduling, training, assigning work, disciplining, and completing performance evaluations
Monitors branch budget for part-time staff and supplies
Oversees maintenance, safety, and security of the branch
Maintains a vibrant and attractive collection by employing merchandising techniques, presenting engaging displays and following adopted collection maintenance practices
Implements, monitors and reports results of strategic initiatives developed for the Library District
Identifies needs and provides recommendations for improving branch operations
Prepares and presents reports and statistical analyses
Works at the customer service desk: answers questions, responds to customer concerns, assists customers with digital devices, promotes Library District products and material types for use by customers
Plans and conducts programs for the public
Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for hiring staff
Working Conditions
Requires travel to and from job related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business. Will be required to work outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, based on branch operating hours. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Ability to lift 15 pounds from floor to waist, 10 pounds waist to shoulder, 5 pounds shoulder to overhead, carry 10 pounds 50 feet, and push/pull 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet. Must be able to manage deadlines, high work volumes, multiple and complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, team-oriented activities, prompt decision-making and interaction with government officials and the public.
