Description of the Position:

The Electronic Technician is responsible for all technical board repair of the casino floor equipment and difficult slot machine repairs. This Team Member is responsible for engineering and designing proper testing equipment for casino electronics, and for making sure the casino machines run more efficiently. Carries out responsibilities while relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Team Member will work under immediate supervision. This position relies on limited experience, instructions, pre-established guidelines and good judgment to perform the functions of the job.

Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:

  • All team members are obligated to support and uphold the Valley View Casino & Hotel's Standards of Excellence, Mission and Vision Statements as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.

  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.

  • Identifies, removes and replaces through hole and surface mount electronic components for board and equipment repair.

  • Is responsible for the repair of board traces

  • Responsible for operating and running diagnostic software for electronic testing equipment such as huntron 800 ~ 2700, oscilloscope, multimeter, sencore monitor testing equipment, function generator, component testing equipment, power generators AC/DC and variac transformers.

  • Responsible for repairing casino electronics such as LCD displays, TFT displays, power supplies, bill validator, CPU boards, MPU boards, I/O cards, mother boards, create harnesses, electronic ballasts, printers and progressive controllers.

  • Team member will troubleshoot and repair damaged slot machine electronic devices such as main boards and monitors.

  • Is responsible for stocking and regulating all electronic components needed to repair damaged electronic boards and devices in the E-Shop.

  • Teach slot technicians how to repair difficult casino floor problems such as board replacements, RAM clears, printer/ bv repairs, light soldering, progressives, software downloads.

  • Advise slot technicians and slot floor person about repairs and procedures on how to repair electronic devices.

  • Advise managers how the slot machines can run more efficiently.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of company facilities, as well as special events on property, in order to advise guests and fellow Team Members of same, whenever possible.

  • Other duties as assigned by Systems Technician Manager.

  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner

  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.

  • Adheres to performance standards, company policies and procedures, as they relate to the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Electronics or related field

  • Minimum two years of Electronic or Slot Technician experience.

  • Ability to operate and run electronic testing equipment.

  • Ability to repair casino electronic devices.

  • Must understand basic and advanced electronic component functions such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, integrated circuits, relays, semiconductors, processors and EEPROMS.

  • Ability to identify, remove and replace through hole and surface mount electronic components; repair board traces; operate diagnostic software for testing equipment.

  • Ability to create and design testing equipment as needed; test stations and board repair power cabinets.

  • Team member must have a sufficient knowledge to repair the most difficult casino floor problem that slot floor technicians are not able to repair in areas such as slot machine power problems, MPU Boards, progressive signs, machine harnesses, and displays.

  • Able to interpret and understand component diagrams and speculation sheets.

  • Ability to advise other technicians about technical problems and inform them with new technical information.

  • Ability to understand electronic concepts and physics on how electronics works in a casino environment.

  • Must have researching capabilities and sufficient skills to collect data for electronic repairs.

  • Electronics Technician must be able to teach all slot floor technicians how to properly repair machines; and difficult machine problems.

  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, schematics and policies and procedure manuals written in the English language.

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form referring back to established guidelines and policies and procedures.

  • Ability to define problems involving several concrete variables, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to carry out primary duties, responsibilities and tasks.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Must use good judgment when providing information to our guests and maintain positive guest relations at all times.

  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.

  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing and a drug screening test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as an electronics technician.

  • Ability to understand oral and verbal communication while using Valley View Casino & Hotel's communication tools which include but are not limited to radios, phones, and or email.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and casino environments, reading and reviewing reports and policies, operating data processing equipment and other essential job functions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • The Team Member may be required to stand, walk, and sit and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.

  • The Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

  • The Team Member must be able to maneuver up to 250 lbs.

  • The Team Member must regularly be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • The Team Member must be able to operate a hand truck up to 500lbs.

  • All lifting must be performed to OSCHA specs.

Working Conditions:

  • The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.

  • The Team Member will need be handling soldering irons, cutting tools and electronic equipment. Team Member must be adequately equipped to handle building materials and ESD grounding materials.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to second hand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts, risk of radiation from computers, and fumes or airborne particles.

  • The Team Member is usually subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • The Team Member is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.
