DEPARTMENT: Pulmonary Medicine - Sleep Center

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Sleep Center Director

TOTAL NUMBER OF FTE's DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPERVISED: 0

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide care to patients of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Sleep Center under the direct supervision of a Sleep Respiratory Therapist. Act as a patient advocate and work with families to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Professional/Clinical

Set up rooms for incoming sleep patients. Enter patient information into computer.

Start computer and perform patient Bio-calibration. Assist in patient hook-up. Inventory and restock supplies.

Learn sleep lab policies and procedures that are pertinent to the function of the daily routine in the sleep lab. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care and reassessment

Follows all departmental policies and procedures. Respects patients rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission, applicable laws and regulations while providing for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred, or discharged.

Furnish data the will contribute to the assessment of patient needs, the organization's capability to provide the appropriate level of treatment while maintaining timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information. Develop knowledge and professional skills through professional literature and attendance at departmental meetings and inservices.

Collaborate with the health care team to provide optimal patient care in a professional and culturally diverse fashion. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients, and families. Attend required training sessions

Required:

  • High School Graduate OR Equivalent

Preferred:

  • Experience in pediatrics
