This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will help lead solutions for various spaceflight systems engineering challenges as a Mission Engineering and Integration Flight Planning Responsible Engineer (RE). The Flight Planning RE is responsible for supporting all our Phase Leads in developing the Concepts of Operations across all phases of the crewed and cargo lunar missions. The PSEIT Mission Integration Planner role will own the overall Timeline process across all ConOps Phases and will be responsible for ensuring accurate Cameo Model(s) outputs and development with implementation teams.

You will work with systems engineers and multiple technical discipline engineers to ensures that there is cross-functional input and accountability at each phase to deliver aligned and feasible timelines that reflect system capabilities and limitations and/or help define new requirements based on operational constraints. The role will be accountable for developing long term timeline updates that feed mission analysis and validate requirements while providing phase leads necessary insight to create action plans and make decisions that improve operational performance and delivery to the customer.

The Flight Planning RE is a Systems Thinker who proactively involves themselves in the requirements, design and development of systems that are active across all mission phases. To be successful, experience with spacecraft systems engineering and a familiarity with human spaceflight operations is required.

This opportunity reports to the Mission Systems Engineering and Integration Section inside the Sustaining Lunar Development Program Systems Engineering and Integration Group. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must be capable of effectively presenting to and communicating with both PSEIT team members as well as the Integrate Product Teams (IPTs).

  • Must be capable of research, review, and assessment of current timelined activities to assist in identifying gaps and forward work.

  • Will be required to analyze data, aligning business practices with strategy, and assess the impact of strategies after implementation.

  • Will work to validate and integrate mission requirements, concept of operations inputs, and phase specific inputs bases on analysis, while maintaining awareness and functionality of the full SLD timeline from a high-level mission perspective down to the ins and outs of vehicle operations and protecting crewed activity requirements.

  • Lead the DAC Timeline process delivering cross-functionally aligned, achievable long-term deliverables. Ensure an integrated and continuously improving process that allows for phase lead planning, decision making, and configuration management of changes.

  • Work directly with key stakeholders to integrate ConOps timeline inputs, development, and approval.

  • Specific 'special projects' to support Mission Integration phase lead activities.

  • Responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of ConOps timelines from the Cameo Mission Model.

  • Integrate with the mission phase leads and the crew lander system integration & analysis team to ensure consistency and communication across technical data products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area.

  • 10 years' experience in integrated program planning; education requirement may be replaced with an additional 5 years' experience in integrated program planning.

  • Experience with integrated master schedules with resource loading using Primavera (P6), Open Plan, MS Project, or other software.

  • Experience and comfort with working in ambiguous environments and situations

  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong digital literacy (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)

  • Strong communication skills in technical work environments

  • Self-starter who can efficiently function in remote, hybrid, and in person team settings.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with the NASA customer on a frequent basis.

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area.

  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Jama, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, SharePoint lists and pages, Visio, MS Project, and Windchill
