Community and School Outreach is an initiative of the Community Relations Office. Our goal is to make post-secondary education, and Salt Lake Community College specifically, an accessible and attainable goal for the communities we serve. We do this, in part, by increasing SLCC visibility in our communities; understanding the strengths and needs of our communities; promoting the importance of postsecondary education; and providing information about how to access SLCC programs and resources.
As an outreach specialist, you are a passionate, high energy, and outgoing individual who is excited to connect with people of all ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status around post-secondary education issues. You will support our work in k10 schools with students, administration, and community members and our participation in community events, fairs, and festivals.
The majority of your work will take involve tabling at community locations and celebrations off-campus.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Research upcoming events in SLCC's service area
Prepare materials for use in school and community outreach
Perform administrative and clerical functions, including such as responding to inquiries from community leaders and schools, scheduling events, data entry, spreadsheets and other functions as assigned
Support the development of outreach activities and presentations to school and community groups
Travel to schools and various community locations (fairs and festivals) for event set-up, staffing, presentations, and/or break-down at locations across Salt Lake County
Support event volunteers
Serve as a positive role model to younger students
Develop and maintain appropriate college and community relationships

Help coordinate and train volunteers from across the College at community events

This is a hybrid position.
Minimum Qualifications
Skilled in Microsoft suite
Drivers license and reliable transportation
Available to work a minimum of 6-10 hours per week, including day, night, and weekend hours at off-campus events
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in communication, marketing, and/or community outreach and engagement
Proficiency in a second language

Work-study is awarded to SLCC students through the Federal College Work-Study program, which requires establishing financial need through the FAFSA application from the Financial Aid Office. If you do not have work-study awarded to you, you will not be eligible for work under work-study positions.
