Job Summary

Skills Inc. is looking for an Embedded Firmware Engineer with our client located in Redmond, WA for an 18 month contract (W-2 ONLY). As an embedded firmware engineer you will be responsible for creating and maintaining firmware running on embedded consumer electronics. You will have responsibilities spanning all aspects of product bring-up, test, and maintenance: write, debug, and integrate new features, protocols, and other firmware code using C programming language across embedded product line.

You will be interacting with Hardware, OS, Test, Operations and various other cross-functional teams. You will also review board schematics and data sheets, utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment to troubleshoot hardware/software issues. Enable test strategies for new components in upcoming products. Support product development builds locally and remotely.

Key Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience in design, development and launch of high-volume consumer electronic

product is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems principle.

  • Demonstrable programming skills in C (C++ experience a plus).

  • Experience and understanding of firmware design tools (IAR is a plus) and languages.

  • Understanding of basic testing, coding, and debugging procedures.

  • Experience with of standard protocols such as USB, I2C, MIPI, and/or wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other).

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills for multi-processor systems in a real-time environment with

I2C/SPI, USB and other interconnect busses.

Education

BS, MS or PhD in EE, CS, or similar degree required and/or 10+ years of relevant industry experience

This is an 18-month vendor contract position. Develop, design, and implement mechanical solutions for camera modules. Including ME tasks related to design and evaluation of camera modules: generate detailed 2D/3D drawings of camera modules in ProE/Crea, perform TA of camera modules and implementation into product enclosures, identify mechanical CTFs for camera modules relative to camera fit into product enclosures. Manage constraints in space, time, cost, manufacturing, structural integrity, and thermal loads. Direct and coordinate mechanical engineering and manufacturing services as required. Develop project documentation including specifications, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, schedules and presentations to capture and communicate the mechanical design to achieve the defined project goals. Qualifications: * Hands-on experience in design, development and launch of high-volume consumer electronic product is a must. * Requires strong design skills, managing through ambiguity, and technical problem solving skills. * Excellent interpersonal, influencing, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required. * Proficiency in PTC Creo or Wildfire strongly desired. * Proficiency in statistical tolerance analysis strongly desired. * Excellent project management, communication and teamwork skills required. * Demonstrated ownership of multiple sub-systems and/or a complete simple product (Simple = Mouse or iPod shuffle) and/or experience launching multiple moderately complex to complex consumer electronic products: Moderately Complex = Smart TV/DVD, Complex = smart phone/Xbox.
