Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for a Skilled Trades Worker for the Macon, GA campus.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent must have the knowledge, skills and ability to handle a broad range of duties related to both general construction/installation carpentry along with finish carpentry. In addition this position must have the understanding, skills and abilities to successfully complete assignments in basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC maintenance that may be assigned. Must have the knowledge to work with and help coordinate and monitor outside contractors and vendors along with in-house trades when required for project completion. The incumbent will work under indirect supervision and will report to the Area Supervisor of Residential Life.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED and three years of general construction/maintenance experience, with one year working in construction and/or finish carpentry are required.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have the knowledge ability to work and successfully complete assignments involving general construction/installation carpentry along with finish carpentry.
Must have a broad knowledge and ability to complete basic Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing and HVAC maintenance duties as assigned.
Must have the ability to help identify and resolve maintenance problems.
Must have good verbal and written communications skills.
Must have the ability to help develop and prepare basic estimates for maintenance/repair related projects.
Must have working knowledge of city, county and state building codes.
Must have physical abilities to perform duties as assigned.
