Skilled Trades Technician, Plant Operations
Job Description
Operation, maintenance and repair of industrial equipment as in boilers, generators, pumps and valves. Work involves all aspects of boiler operation and steam distribution to include general maintenance and repair of related Energy Division/Power Plant equipment. Follow written and oral procedures, reading and recording gauges and water testing.
Required to be able to work in confined spaces such as the boilers, tanks, and steam tunnels. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, work overhead, climb steps, ladders, and scaffolding.
Work Schedule:
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as one year of experience in a skilled craft area. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical knowledge in general repair and maintenance
Will train the right person
Appointment Date: The start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and successful completion of a background check.

Salary: $19.00/hour, plus $0.30-$0.60 shift differential when applicable

Responsibilities:
Complete appropriate training as needed
Shift work required during seasonal operation for 24/7 coverage
Operate and monitor boilers and all related equipment safely
Prepare boilers, tanks and related equipment for required inspections
Complete required readings and logs accurately and neatly
Perform required water testing, adjusting chemical control for proper operation and safe performance of boilers and related equipment
Safely and accurately completes assigned general maintenance on equipment
Keep work area, plant and tunnels clean
Maintain, repair and inspect campus fountains during seasonal operation
