Job Summary

Under periodic supervision, perform a variety of standard, generally repetitive, manufacturing activities involved in the fabrication, assembly or machine operations required to manufacture composite parts or assemblies.

  • Follow all quality policies, procedures and meet stringent workmanship standards.

  • Read, understand and follow manufacturing blueprints, instructions and specifications.

  • Interpret blueprint drawings, process specifications, and work order instructions required to fabricate Composite flight hardware.

  • Hand Lay-up and vacuum bagging of composite structures using resin impregnated Carbon, Aramid or Glass fiber materials

  • Perform assembly and bonding of complex composite structures.

  • Follow and maintain accurate documentation and time charging.

  • Follow instructions for handling and storage of flight hardware.

  • Read and use calipers, micrometers and standard shop measuring tools.

  • Assemble parts, fittings, or subassemblies on aircraft by using layout tools, power tools or fasteners, such as bolts, screws, rivets or clamps

  • Attach brackets, hinges, or clips to secure or support components or subassemblies by using bolts, screws, rivets and chemical bonds

  • Mark identifying information on tubing or cable assemblies, by using etching devices, labels, rubber stamps, or other methods

  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures by using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points

  • Verify dimensions of cable assemblies or positions of fitting by using measuring instruments

  • Ability to work with electrical, hydraulic and electrical bonding and grounded systems in accordance with published procedures.

  • Ensure proper fit and clearance by cutting, trimming, filing, bending, or smoothing parts

Job Qualifications

A certificate or degree in a manufacturing related technical program with a minimum of one (1) years of work experience in a fast-pace manufacturing environment.

Preferred

An associate degree in Aircraft Maintenance or an A & P license with 5 years of high skilled composite assembly manufacturing experience in the aerospace industry.

Direct experience performing tasks associated with composite fabrication and/or assembly is highly desired.
