Ski Technician 5

If you're missing the ski scene and wondering how to put those skills you acquired in the mountains to use here in the tropics, we have the job for you! We are looking for a ski technician for our busy Fort Lauderdale shop. Our shop is humming year-round, even though we're in sunny Florida, as local winter sports enthusiasts head out for all parts of the world to enjoy the snow. This is a great opportunity to stay connected to a sport you love, engage with fellow skiers/snowboarders, while getting their gear in shape. In addition to the technical/ mechanical aspect of the job, our techs are also involved in helping customers get the expertise they need in selecting equipment and getting proper boot fits. Experience is strongly preferred, but we will train the right candidate.

Requirements

• A passion for mountain sports and lifestyle and the ability to share that passion with customers

• Knowledge of, or a keen desire to learn, about winter sports equipment and accessories

• Proven problem-solving ability: effectively identifying, analyzing, following through, and resolving issues, and a proven ability to show attention to detail

• Great attitude & quick learner

• Mechanically inclined

• Effective communication skills-- clear, concise, and positive, both written and verbal

• Excellent customer service skills

• Self-starter with ability to multi-task

• Ability to complete tasks quickly and under pressure

• Remain current on new industry products and trends; demonstrate knowledge of products

Qualifications/Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Retail experience required

• Experienced or certified (certification is available through equipment manufacturers) is a plus.

• Experience working on skis and snowboards a plus. Willing to train the right applicant

• Must be fluent in English, fluency in second language highly desirable

• Able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing, and walking short distances

• Able to tolerate squatting, lifting (ski/snowboard equipment, some boxes up to 50 lbs, with assistance) are also required
