Job Summary:

Coaches provide quality ski instruction to Team athletes in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Colorado and California Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines. Part Time and full time positions forPSIA/AASI/USSA/FIScertified instructors/coaches are available for the 2019/20Season.

Positions available:

Development All Mountain Ski Program.Certified coaches for our Sunday (10 day) Weekend (24 day) and Part Time (45 day) programs.

Development Ski Teams- Introduction to the Ski and Snowboard Team with a focus on all mountain exploration (Non-Competitive)

Alpine Race Coaches. Full and Part time postions open for Certified coaches with expereince

Alpine Race Program U10 - FIS U19

Northstar Ski and Snowboard Team is an in-house team, with support from the Northstar Team Foundation.

Together we support coaches and Team families. As a growing program, we have tremendous growth opportunities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Upholding the highest levels of athlete safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions.

  • Clearly and accuratelycoachingskiing domains to athletes.

  • Ensuring thatathletes are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with Head Coach to make appropriate changes when necessary.

  • Communicating instructions and devlivering a season long progression of skills

  • Supervisingathletes at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of group to identified guardian.


  • Requirements:

  • High School or EquivalentEducation

  • Attend All Mountain Training December 2 & 3rd

  • PSIA/AASI/USSA/FIS Level 1, 2 or 3 certification and/or USSA coaching

  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)

  • Must have excellent guest service skills

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must work well in a team

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment

  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions

  • Must commit to the days that the program is in session

  • Must be able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel,crouch, and reachfrequently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with guests of all ages

  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring

Ski Patrol is responsible for performing guest service functions such as accident handling, administering first aid, trail maintenance, promoting and creating a safe environment for guests and employees, mountain sweeps, lift evacuation and explosives handling. * Supervising and promoting guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions * Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid * Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or supporting air lift operations * Performing trail closures at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are safely off the mountain * Maintaining trails, such as removing trees that have fallen on runs utilizing a chainsaw or other equipment * Transporting and setting up mountain safety equipment * Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need, on skis or snowboard * Avalanche mitigation including safely transporting and placing explosives on the mountain and stabilizing snowpack and cornice edges on skis * Driving snowmobiles to various areas of the mountain, as needed   Qualified candidates must first pass the patrol ski test   Requirements: * Must be available for Full Time work from October 28 throught mid-April * High School or Equivalent required * Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written) required * Basic knowledge of computer required * Must be at least 21 years of age required * Must have excellent guest service skills required * Must work well in a team required * Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment required * Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment required * Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions required * Must be available to work holidays and weekends * Previous patrol or experience at a Vail Resorts® mountain resort preferred   A medical certification is not required as we host our own OEC course. We have limited spots and it will be awared on a first hired, first served basis. The course is 10/19/2019 to 11/2/2019, and more information can be found at http://nsoecintensive.blogspot.com. Students will be responsible for the cost of the course.
