Skating Instructor - Seasonal

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Parks and Recreation, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division is seeking Skating Instructorsfor the Tucker Road Ice Rink. Candidates will assist in the on and off ice instruction of the skating programs which include Learn to Skate, Learn to Play and other on-ice developmental programs.

The schedule will be days, evenings and weekends.

The salary range will be $15.00-$15.25 per hour dependent on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

Examples of Important Duties

• Working conditions work is performed at a recreational ice facility and may be both indoors and outdoors. Some work may be done in an office environment using standard office equipment. Position may require off-site promotion;

• Physical requirements must be able to stand and skate for long periods of time. This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling;

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years' experience assisting with the instruction of ice skating programs. Developing learn to skate, learn to play and on ice skating programs from tots to adults, beginners to advanced, recreational to competitive;

• Experience with Industry and instructional hockey and figure skating programs preferred.

• Knowledge of USFS, ISI and USA Hockey programsalong with memberships, credentials, and certifications preferred;

• Ability to obtain certifications from USFS, ISI and USA hockey;

• Able to network and form strong and lasting relationships within the facility, community, and industry;

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel;

• Dedication to achieve results with a focus on planning and execution; dedication to success and commitment to work a flexible schedule to achieve facility and departmental goals;
