Basic Function

Under general direction of the assigned supervisor , the Site Supervisor manages employees operating in Counseling and Advising with the following major responsibilities: support Counseling and Advising front office operations and services, facilitate Learning and Career Pathways efforts, transfer, graduation and enrollment initiatives, as well as Financial Aid Application completion efforts for current students; to support the effort of streamlining department operations that will lead to student persistence, retention, and completion; and to provide leadership and administrative support to counselors, educational advisors, program staff, families and students.

Representative Duties

1.Provide first-line supervision to Counseling and Advising services provided at college site, including assigned personnel.

2.Supervise assigned staff including the assignment of duties and responsibilities, monitor and review work activities to assure that college and department goals are being met and that appropriate training is provided; evaluate the performance and participate in the screening and selection process of classified support and student employees.

3.Conduct front office oversight and workflow, scheduling events, ensuring and observing streamlined staff interaction with students, providing resources for students, and providing feedback and consultation to the Dean of Counseling.

4.Develop training plans for support staff members.

5.Participate in the planning, development, and management of the budget; identifies material and equipment needs.

6.Maintains knowledge of relevant and current State, federal, and district policies and regulations, and assures that site operations and personnel are in compliance with funding guidelines.

7.Plan and schedule staff to ensure coverage in accordance with applicable regulations and efficient use of personnel.

8.Prepare detailed reports as required.

9.May perform intake and registration tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Any Combination equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, or related field desirable and two years of full-time experience or the equivalent in a management position.

OR

  • Associates degree and four years of full-time experience or the equivalent in a management position.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students and employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with application and requirements in systems of higher education and financial aid.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Mission of the California Community Colleges and community college programs.

  • Leadership and management techniques and practices.

  • Principles and practices of budget development and administration.

  • Strong planning, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar programs

Ability to:

  • Interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and District policies, laws and regulations.

  • Maintain a satisfactory level of position specific progress toward Professional Development for the purpose of training other support staff members

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate support personnel.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  • Exercise leadership and maintain good working relationships with faculty, students, and staff.

  • Function under tight timelines, successfully completing projects in a detailed manner

  • Work independently and set goals and objectives for operations that fall within the scope of this position, supporting the College's goals.

  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing.

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of workshops.

  • Work collaboratively and productively with faculty, students, administrators, support staff, and the community.

  • Effectively work within a system of participatory governance.

  • Facilitate change in a productive and positive manner.

  • Foster teamwork and establish consensus.

SALARY RANGE

$ 61,049.22 - $ 80,101.87 annually

Maximum Entry Level Salary: $ 64,139.84 annually
