Requirements / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: -BA in Early Childhood Education or related field and a current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher required. Master's degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience working with children ages 6 weeks-5 years old in an early childhood education program

  • 2-3 years of progressive leadership experience working in a supervisory or mentoring role supporting infants, young preschool, and preschool classrooms.

  • Working knowledge or the ability to learn district-adopted software: Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified or be able to obtain certification

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam

  • Must be able to walk, squat, bend, and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for the oversight of one infant classroom and two preschool classrooms.

  • Provide leadership in creating developmentally appropriate curriculum directly connected to the needs and interests of the children for preschool children.

  • Responsible for ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and oversight of the child-centered, play-based curriculum for all children

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn SEAL, High Scope, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, QRIS, Preschool Learning Foundations, Teaching Pyramid, Desired Results Developmental Profile and/or CLASS preferred.

  • Manage center financial, marketing, and enrollment functions.

  • Ability to clearly convey messages regarding organizational policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Ability to perform job duties with minimum supervision.

  • Keep children safe and healthy through proper supervision, authentic interaction, and practicing good health habits

  • Ensure all health and safety protocols are implemented and practiced in the classroom as outlined by SCUSD.

  • Create exciting and enriched environments connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.

  • Work collaboratively with other staff by role modeling workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.

  • Ability to problem solve, use good judgment, communicate effectively both verbally & in writing, set priorities and goals, resolve conflict, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Provide excellent customer service for families, school, and community.

  • Site Supervisor will be in ratio for a period of the instructional day and to assist with breaks/absences. Please note: Benefits include: Sick and Vacation Leave, Holiday Pay; Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement-California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS)
