Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Support site management's requirement to safely deliver quality services
Administer the company's Health & Safety Program locally; site Accident Prevention Plans; Activity Hazard Analyses; Position Hazard Analyses; and other site- specific plans, procedures, and policies
Manage Health & Safety Training, ensuring employees understand hazards associated with site conditions and activities and methods to mitigate those hazards
Audit and inspect site conditions and activities; initiate corrective and preventive actions and verify the effectiveness of actions taken
May be responsible for assisting on the development of agendas for both pre and post-job conferences
Provide guidance of safety improvements
Lead incident investigations with affected supervisor, assuring actionable causes of incidents are acted on by managers and supervisors and verifying the effectiveness of actions taken
Perform construction and project management administration functions, handling a variety of actions and problems relating to assigned projects. May prepare and analyze contractual requirement submittals
Report activities, findings, incidents and investigations, and site OSHA statistic to the Corporate Health & Safety Officer (CHSO) and the site Project Manager
Administer the OSHA 300 Log; review with the CHSO quarterly
Keep abreast of developments in health and safety practices and legislation; act upon changes accordingly
Liaise with client and other team organizations on health and safety issues
Other duties as assigned by the CHSO or Project Manager
Must either have A) (preferred), or B) successfully obtain within 30 days. Certificate must be no more than one year old, unless candidate can demonstrate 8 hours of documented continued training per year that meets the requirements of US Army Corps of Engineers manual EM 385-1-1.
Preferred certificate: 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry safety class (29 CFR 1926)
Acceptable certificate: 30-hour OSHA General Industry safety class (29 CFR 1910)
Acceptable alternative: As an equivalent, formal construction or industry safety and health training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour course and the EM 385-1-1 (acceptable with proper substantiation and if training is applicable to the job).
Must demonstrate proof of employment for:
Preferred: Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or
Acceptable: Five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/managing general industry (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or
Acceptable: If holding a Third-Party, Nationally Accredited (ANSI or National Commission for Certifying Agencies NCCA) SOH-related certification, only 4 years' experience is needed.
Experience working with Cranes or performing Crane Safety Inspections, preferred
Experience with Erecting Scaffolding or Performing Inspections, preferred
Experience with Fall protection systems and Training, Competent Person, preferred
Ability to develop and establish Health & Safety policies, plans, and procedures
Demonstrated skills in objective problem-solving and decision-making
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office software
Auditing skills and experience
Presentation, written and oral communication skills sufficient for large groups and executive staff
Continuing safety education and certifications preferred
Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility
Physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional bending, reaching, and lifting
Minimal exposure to chemicals such as cleaning solutions; minimal exposure to blood and other bodily fluids
