Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer for a dry dock 4 refueling complex at Norfolk Naval Station Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience, or a minimum of 5 years on a similar project, and must possess an EM-385 certification. Continuing education is a plus. The role requires availability to work six days a week until the end of the year.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations on site.
• Conduct regular safety training and meetings.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans.
• Monitor daily construction activities to identify potential hazards.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections and incidents.
• Coordinate with project managers to integrate safety measures into project planning.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Essential Skills

• EM-385 certification
• OSHA 30 certification
• 10+ years of experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer
• Experience in federal construction and construction safety
• Proficiency in safety training and procedures

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with NAVFAC safety standards
• Training in excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, hazardous materials, or confined space
• Continuing education in safety management
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Work Environment

This position is located on-site at Norfolk Naval Station Portsmouth. The work schedule is Monday through Saturday from 6:30am to 5:00pm. The role offers an employee-owned company environment with an ESOP program, a six-year vesting period, 10 holidays, and two weeks of negotiable PTO. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
