Site Reliability Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Site Reliability plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of our systems. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor SRE engineers, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Lead the team responsible for level 2 application support, nightly batch processing, and automation of production business systems nightly operations.

• Evaluate ways to continuously improve and automate the nightly data processing and automated recovery from job failures.

• Ensure environment is well documented and engineers can self-solution problems based on information in the knowledgebase.

• Perform release management by promoting code from lower environments to production environments.

• Develop roadmap for data interchange and automation in partnership with the infrastructure and applications architect

This role has ownership of short-term solution design (1-3 months) and execution of functional IS strategy as defined by IT leadership. Problems faced are moderate, requiring some investigation and analysis to ensure solutions meet best practices. Qualified candidates will have the ability to influence others to accept standard practices and approaches, with the ability to communicate and influence technology leadership.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Define and execute the SRE strategy aligned with business goals.

• Lead and inspire a team of SRE engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.

• Promote application code and updates through lower environments into production.

• Oversee the monitoring, incident response, and reliability of production systems.

• Implement best practices for fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and system availability.

• Drive post-incident reviews and root cause analysis.

• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to design and maintain robust infrastructure.

• Automate deployment, scaling, and configuration management.

• Work closely with software engineers to identify bottlenecks and enhance system performance.

• Ensure adherence to security standards and compliance requirements.

• Set up and maintain monitoring and automation tools

• Create alerts and respond to incidents promptly.

• Collaborate with development, QA, and product teams to improve system reliability.

• Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Handle ambiguity and prioritize effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Java, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft systems.

• Familiarity with virtualization

• Proven experience managing and leading technical teams.

• Ability to drive change, mentor engineers, and foster a collaborative environment.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

• Make informed decisions under pressure.

MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong analytical/strategic and problem-solving skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a successful track record of leading groups in successful delivery.

• Strong knowledge of business and accounting processes.

• Experience with batch job and automation platforms.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• 10 years of technology experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Information Systems / Computer Science / Business or equivalent.

• Experience facilitating cross functional teams in developing solutions to complex problems and business needs.

• Proven effective leader and coach of individuals.

• 15 years of technology experience.
