Job Overview

The Site Reliability Engineer is a great fit for an organized, analytical, problem solver who designs, develops, and maintains software and tools that support cloud-native applications at scale. You are responsible for continually advancing the technology in a collaborative and creative agile environment using many of the latest technologies and industry best practices and finding better and more efficient ways of delivering solutions that meet business objectives.

Your Day-to-Day

As Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful operation of several public facing, high traffic volume microservices in the cloud. In this role you will be partnering with software engineers from multiple product delivery teams to ensure that releases are automated, tested, performant, and will not violate the error budgets set by each service.

Your primary job function will be to ensure the highest possible uptime for several cloud-native digital commerce applications. This role will require the ability to troubleshoot complex CI/CD pipelines, backend API software code, and cloud infrastructure components through thoughtful practices such as code reviews, load testing, chaos engineering, monitoring, tracing, documentation, etc.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent practical experience

  • 6+ years' experience with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Bash, C#, Java, Node, Python, or C++

  • Experience with source code control systems, branching and merging, automated unit testing frameworks, automated build tools, and automated deploy frameworks

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and deliver quality results.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with container technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.

  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based infrastructure and applications.

  • Experience with cloud monitoring and logging technologies such as Prometheus and Elastic Stack.

  • Experience developing observability dashboards using tools like Grafana or Kibana.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or SaltStack

  • Experience architecting, deploying, or coding solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

The Site Reliability Engineer reports to the Director, Technical Operations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: * Apply cloud (AWS, VMWare) computing skills to deploy upgrades and fixes * Design, develop, and implement software integrations based on user feedback * Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment * Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines) * Analyze code and communicate detailed reviews to development teams to ensure a marked improvement in applications and the timely completion of projects * Collaborate with team members to improve the company's engineering tools, systems and procedures, and data security * Optimize current architecture * Design and build highly available production systems * Conduct systems tests for security, business continuity, performance, and availability * Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation * Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities for the platform Qualifications * Problem-solving skills and attitude * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Strong Knowledge AWS Public Cloud services and solutions * Extensive experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Chef, or Ansible * Ability to maintain .NET and Java web applications * Strong Linux and Windows management background * Experience in architecting solutions and a deep understanding of application-status monitoring * Strong command of software-automation production systems (Jenkins and Selenium) * Script writing abilities using Perl/Python/Java/Bash * Expertise in software development methodologies * Working knowledge DevOps tools like Git and GitLab * Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL and MySQL Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline OR equivalent experience * Four (4) years of relevant experience Preferred Education/Experience: * Four (4)- Six (6) years of relevant experience * AWS Cloud Architect experience * Automation with Terraform * Worked with .NET SaaS solutions * Maintaining high availability systems * CI/CD process engineering Additional Information Daxko is dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.
