THE ROLE

We are looking for a talented Site Reliability Engineer to help take Vivints systems to the next level. The ideal candidate must have the ability to provide new and innovative ideas to automate Vivints infrastructure and operations environments and enable migration of services to the cloud. We are looking for candidates with drive to make a difference and who are not afraid to experiment and learn new technologies.

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Developing tools and automating solutions to support Vivints on premises and cloud services
  • Installation and configuration of applications and underlying software infrastructure
  • Automate repetitive / manual tasks and improve operational maturity
  • Scale systems through automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and performance
  • Maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health
  • Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues
  • Be part of an engineering team on-call rotation

Requirements

    • Ability and passion for automation with code and / or scripting
    • Experience managing environments with 700+ virtual machines
    • Familiarity with system & state management tools such as Salt, Chef and Puppet
    • Knowledge and understanding of network, compute, storage systems
    • Experience with container-based systems running in a Kubernetes environment
    • An understanding of the concepts behind load balancers, reverse proxies, request routing used in solutions like F5, Apigee, Ambassador.io, Istio or Nginx
    • Experience with virtualization that can help us build our Hybrid cloud environment with solutions like VMWare, Azure & Azure Stack, AWS, Google Cloud Compute
    • Experience with cloud-based systems like AWS, Azure and GCP

Come join us!</p><p>LendingClub Bank is building out an SRE function for the production environment that interfaces with our critical ecosystem of 3rd party banking services. This is a unique role that meshes your SRE talents with a deep understanding of banking systems and cores to providing observability, reliability, and availability of systems that our customers rely on for their banking needs.</p><p>What You'll Do</p><p>As a member of the SRE Team for Engineering you will focus on monitoring and improving services, and collaboration with operations, security and engineering teams to ensure the health of our services. This may include:</p><ul><li><p>Run the production environment that interfaces with our 3rd party banking ecosystem by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health</p></li><li><p>Build software and automation to gather the appropriate telemetry from the banking core jobs and infrastructure</p></li><li><p>Improve reliability, quality, and observability of our key banking infrastructure</p></li><li><p>Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve</p></li><li><p>Expertise in incident and problem management including timely problem identification, successful resolution, and root-cause analysis.</p></li><li><p>Ensure service level objectives through proactive monitoring, custom tooling, and on-call support/troubleshooting.</p></li></ul><p>About You</p><p>SRE is a challenging cross-disciplinary practice, and as such we are open to Engineers from varied backgrounds to help us. Most important is being a fearless experimenter who is comfortable rolling out features and changes that will impact hundreds of services, but doing so in a way that limits the blast radius when things go wrong. That being said, ideal skills might include:</p><ul><li><p>Prior hands on experience in an SRE role, including knowledge of SRE best practices and Chaos Engineering techniques</p></li><li><p>Java development experience, with testing skills (unit, integration and testing in production).
