At Brain Corporation, our Technical Operations Engineering team bridges the gap between development and customer services to transition new robots to market and provide support for existing robotic fleets. We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer that will be a core member of the technical operations engineering team who will be responsible for managing our robotic fleets, contributing to new tool development, and applying troubleshooting expertise to everything from Brain's cloud infrastructure to robot hardware.

Task and Responsibilities

There is no typical day for this role. Some days are spent in the lab, working with developers to bring up new robots. Some days will be spent troubleshooting issues raised by customers and partners. Other days will be spent creating training documents, working with QA on the next software deployment, building out tools to analyze trends, or supporting our OEM partners.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, Electrical, or Network Engineering

  • 3+ years of related work experience

  • 1+ years of work experience in a Linux environment

  • Strong system integration skills

  • Ability to navigate around a code base

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Things that make a difference

  • Experience with continuous integration, deployment, and release management tools

  • Experience scripting, Python preferred

  • Understanding of mechanical or robotic systems

  • Experience of implementing and using system monitoring tools

  • Understanding of commercial and industrial work environments

  • Familiarity with AWS

  • Driven to identify, understand, and solve problems

Occasional off-hours work required. Travel up to 10%

This position is located in our San Diego Headquarters and reports to the Director of Engineering.

What's Expected: * Build, scale, and secure SaaS application infrastructure on multiple cloud providers * Establish policies and best practices for operational readiness and partner with development to ensure adoption * Ensure maintenance of production resource including load balancing and API gateways. * Work closely with developers during the deployment and testing phases to provide insight into operational, security, and performance considerations * Advocate and implement industry best practices for operational monitoring and analysis * Develop and maintain operational administration, system and data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring policies and tools * Automate processes for log analysis and conduct root cause analysis to ensure resolution of operational errors * Establish adherence to production KPIs * Act as first responder to triage and analyze abnormalities in system operation What you'll need for success * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field * 2+ years' experience in a DevOps engineering, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering role * 1+ years' experience in managing cloud based or hybrid infrastructures * Exposure with monitoring tools like New Relic, Data Dog, and Operations Management Suite tools * SQL database development and optimization skills preferred * Experience with Agile/Scrum, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Automated Deployment, and System monitoring * Knowledge of basic networking technology and concepts: TCP/UDP, SSL, HTTP, NAT * Understanding and passion for developing highly secure and highly available systems * Experience with cloud platforms Experience working with C# and .Net a plus Seismic San Diego CA
