Site Reliability Engineering

The Site Reliability Engineering team has an intense focus on driving Aladdin's stability, reliability, and scalability to the next level. This team combines software and systems engineering principals and concepts consistent with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) discipline.

We are seeking energetic and driven engineers who are looking to help build a diverse and dynamic team. This team will solve complex problems relating to the stability and scale of Aladdin's complex ecosystem.


  • Design, Develop and Deliver world class software applications to improve Aladdin reliability

  • Work with development teams to better utilize new operational tools and paradigms

  • Build new shared components that prioritize performance, scale and resiliency

  • Engineer and build intelligent monitoring and alerting tools that facilitate self-healing software

  • Engineer and build comprehensive capacity management and demand forecasting solutions

  • Build next-gen automation tools utilizing technologies such as Kubernetes


  • Bachelors or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline

  • Expert on Core Java/J2EE with at least 6+ years hands on experience

  • Expert on frameworks like Spring, Hibernate

  • Strong database experience

  • Strong experience with object modeling and architecture

  • Passion for learning and implementing new technologies

  • Experience with cloud native patterns such as microservices and observability

  • Experience with metrics tools like Prometheus and Influx a strong plus

  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker a strong plus

  • Experience with NoSQL databases and Kafka is a strong plus

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrate ability to be a self-starter and learn quickly

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Strong attention to details and thoroughness

  • Excellent ability to mentor junior members of the team

  • Strong ability to effectively influence design and development decisions

The tools you will be deploying and supporting are the required building blocks for your colleagues to be successful. What You Will Be Doing at WebMD * administering/supporting/configuring our monitoring, deployment, and automation tools, including participation in an on-call rotation * automate all provisioning and routine tasks (primarily via Chef recipes, but also ruby, python, bash, Powershell, etc) * work with both homegrown applications and commercial products (such as uDeploy and Documentum) * writing and debugging Chef cookbooks, and helping your colleagues with their automation tasks * working primarily on Linux and Windows platforms What's In It For You Besides a competitive compensation package, you'll be working with a great group of technologists interested in always finding the right tool for the job in a culture that encourages innovation. What You Need For This Position (minimum qualifications) * 3+ years experience in the Technology Operations / DevOps field * 3+ years experience supporting large-scale websites or operations tools in a Linux environment * Experience with a configuration management tool, such as Chef or Puppet * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field; or a total of at least 5 years of experience in IT * Extensive experience writing scripts to automate tasks and interact with other systems/APIs (python or ruby, preferred) * Experience using Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket (git) ... and if you have the following, even better!
