Site Medical Director, Job, UChicago Medical Group

UChicago Medicine Medical Group seeks an exceptional Site Medical Director for our South Loop location in Chicago, Illinois.
The Site Medical Director is the primary physician leader responsible for overall ambulatory patient care and related services provided by the University of Chicago Medical Center (''UCM") at the designated site. The Medical Director works in collaboration with UCM clinical and administrative leaders and provides oversight, coordination, and integration of a multitude of primary care and subspecialty units providing services on-site and in the surrounding community. The Medical Director works in partnership with the on-site Operations Director and has a consistent on-site presence allocated to effectively discharge these administrative responsibilities with the remainder of time dedicated to clinical practice.
Clinic Operations
Ambulatory operational policies, infection control, patient safety, HIPAA compliance, Joint Commission standards adherence, budget management
Reviews and advises on budget and capital requests
Collaborates with administration and physicians to facilitate integration of new clinic programs and operations
Ensures unparalleled patient experience, access, and staff satisfaction in coordination with UCMC leadership
Performance Management
Oversees clinical quality and patient safety,
Responsible for monitoring and implementing improvement initiatives in support of site-specific needs to achieve desired performance across all dimensions including access, patient experience, utilization, clinical finances, and quality
Works with management teams and physicians to develop procedures for monitoring, reporting, and continually improving clinical outcomes to meet UCM operating principles and best practices
Manages conflict resolution and escalates unresolved or major issues to the Chief Ambulatory Medical Officer
Approves clinical practice protocols for the site
Participates in performance assessments of professional staff
Business Development and Relationship Management
Leadership Development
Creates an environment of inter-professional collaboration and teamwork that recognizes and encourages each team member's unique contributions to patient safety. clinical quality and the patient
Plans opportunities for education, training and professional development for clinic providers
Required Skills and Qualifications
Active member in good standing of the UCM Medical Staff without restriction to practice
No current or recent (within 2 years) UCM policy violations or professionalism interventions
Demonstrated track record of collaborative leadership as evidenced by successful leadership in a matrix reporting structure and partnerships with leaders from other disciplines to reach shared goals.
Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution
Intense interest in improving ambulatory care, with a focus on quality, safety, operational performance and professional development
Proven ability to represent various constituencies and accomplish goals by using influence within a complex matrix organization
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Visionary and innovative, able to inspire others throughout a large, complex organization, attracting followers, building effective coalitions, and being a catalyst for action
Passionately focused on patients and service excellence, performance and performance improvement
Politically savvy, able to maneuver through complex political situations effectively and quietly, be sensitive to how people and organizations function, and anticipate where conflicts are and plan accordingly
