The Manufacturing Engineering Associate Director is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the manufacturing engineering function. This includes leading the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that production meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the manufacturing engineering strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives.

  • Lead the engineering team in planning and implementing projects that enhance production capabilities and efficiency.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of manufacturing engineers.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development.

  • Ensure team members have the resources and training necessary to succeed.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, and other process improvement methodologies.

  • Oversee the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.

  • Direct the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical requirements.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process changes.

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with the quality team to develop and implement robust quality control procedures.

  • Monitor production metrics and quality data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Provide technical leadership and support to the engineering team.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage.

  • Work closely with NPI, product development, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new products and processes.

  • Communicate effectively with senior management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

  • Prepare and present reports on departmental performance, project status, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams and projects.

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in CAD software, ERP systems, and manufacturing process simulation tools.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
