Maritime Sensors consists of five U.S. based sites offering a diverse portfolio of high-precision sensor technologies and various submarine handling systems. MSENS focus is delivering integrated, superior, multi-domain sensor capability through innovative, reliable and best-value systems to our DoD/DoN, Proprietary, International and Commercial customers. Our sensors and undersea systems deliver outstanding capabilities in the harshest naval environments. With current revenues of approximately $300 million, L3 Maritime Sensors is a global leader in the development and production of maritime handling systems, and broad-spectrum undersea sensors. The role:

The Site Vice President and General Manager for Millersville MD and Ashaway RI will lead a growing and profitable towed acoustic array business. This individual will lead a team to identify growth opportunities, improve profitability, make continued improvements in customer satisfaction, and drive productivity and value-creation. The individual will have responsibility for leading business operations at both locations, providing overall growth strategy, organizational and site leadership, financial and organizational management.

The Site Vice President and General Manager will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Developing a vision, strategy and associated tactics for the towed acoustic array business that drives growth and operational excellence.

  • Leading the current business portfolio to achieve operational excellence, high customer satisfaction, maximization of revenue and profitability, high staff retention and continued growth.

  • Developing a five year strategic plan for the capture of domestic and international towed acoustic array business and integrate/align that plan with the Maritime Sensors Division's strategic plan.

  • Building and leading a team to execute a long range, balanced, and effective organic and inorganic growth campaign.

  • Providing leadership to Business Development activities associated with Maritime Sensors programs, including strategic business planning, new business forecasting and strategic capture.

  • Finding new Maritime Sensors business opportunities, validating opportunities, defining customer requirements and leading the transition effort to a capture.

  • Providing leadership to the proposal and capture efforts. Conducting reviews of major bids and proposals to ensure success through opportunity, risk and financial analysis. Coordinating bid and proposals through L3 approved process.

  • Translating strategic priorities into operational reality by aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems.

  • Reviewing analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine division progress toward stated goals and objectives, and adjusting accordingly.

  • Communicating site goals and results to Division senior management including financial reports, major business issues, strategic plans, budget appropriations, risks and opportunities.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, international and US government laws and contracting requirements such as FAR ITAR, and import/export, etc.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, U.S., state and local government laws related to Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Establishing, growing and maintaining close customer relationships, participates in the marketing and sales process, and actively promote the organization's capabilities and strengths; ensure that customer perspective is a driving force behind business decisions and activities.

  • Driving high standards for individual, team, and organizational accomplishment through teamwork and empowerment; tenaciously work to meet or exceed challenging goals and foster continuous improvement.

  • Ensuring effective organizational design and provide an environment that upholds L3's commitment to employee development and the value of a diverse and inclusive workforce.

  • Efficiently plan and optimize site and facilities utilization incorporating business growth projections into five year plans.

  • Ensuring continuous improvement is a part of the sites' culture, utilizing L365 to achieve year on year savings.

  • Establishing clear goals that align the sites' efforts with the Division's goals; ensure synergies between people, processes and strategies across all departments at the sites to drive flawless execution of business objectives, as well as maintain strong working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or other technicalfield. Master's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, orrelated discipline is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience on aprogressive career growth path, with much of that time in a senioroperational management role with experience leading and motivating adiverse workforce in manufacturing operations. Track record ofsuccess improving cost management, inventory management, supply chainmanagement, quality, and delivery.

  • At least 7 years of experience working closely withbusiness development, program management, engineering, and operationsteams to build a cohesive organization in a government contractingenvironment.

  • Experience managing an operations business withrevenues of at least $50 million.

  • Strategic thinker who understands where the market isgoing, where future opportunities lie, and how to align a business topursue and achieve victory in those markets.

  • Proven success managing and developing customerrelations including the ability to understand customer needs and institutesystems, processes, and procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Hands-on pragmatic approach to business, assetmanagement, cash flow and profitability.

  • A strong natural leadership style that moves people totake action, motivates and inspires excellence

  • A prudent change agent, able to quickly assimilate to anew organization effectively

  • Must be results-oriented with a focus on performance,cost management and profitable bottom-line. Demonstrated trackrecord of meeting or exceeding targets goals and strong skills in programexecution to schedule and budget.

  • Able to reconcile market demands with cutting edgetechnology advancement and organizational abilities

  • Articulate, persuasive, and able to build confidencewith the management team

  • Proactively and quickly makes sense of complex issues;responds effectively to complex and ambiguous situations; communicatescomplicated information simply.

  • Gains others' trust by demonstrating openness andhonesty, behaving consistently, and acting in accordance with moral,ethical, professional, and organizational guideline.

  • Hold a minimum of a Secret Department of Defense("DOD") clearance.

  • Exposure to domestic and international travelenvironments. Maximum 50% travel.
