Position Description

The Site Controller provides financial support and directs the financial activities of the Houston plant and the Baytown plant. This position acts as a liason between the plant, corporate finance and corporate accounting. The Site Controller will report to the Eco Central Controller and be located at the Houston plant.

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with plant management to prepare the annual operating plan

  • Compile, analyze and support the fixed cost and turnaround forecasts (monthly and full-year)

  • Perform month-end closing for two plants including inventory verification, journal entries (i.e. accruals) as needed, cost center reviews and variance analysis

  • Prepare monthly variance reports for fixed, turnaround and MUV actual costs as compared to budget and forecasts

  • Coordinate and review the annual fixed asset audits

  • Coordinate and review the annual Q4 spare parts physical

  • Administer and calculate the Exxon service billing at the Baytown plant

  • Work with plant leadership to identify cost savings and implement cost controls

  • Support the site managers and proactively contribute to the plant leadership teams

  • Review and provide financial approval for plant capital projects

  • Ensure capital projects are executed and closed in a timely manner and compliant with capitalization policies and procedures

  • Promote financial best practices and efficiency in processes; continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve

  • Ensure that an effective control environment is maintained through compliance with both internal and external standards (SOX)

  • Support the quarterly and annual audit process through the provision of supporting documentation as requested

  • Provide training and guidance as necessary to plant supervisors to ensure proper and accurate transactional entries in SAP

  • Generate ad hoc reports as requested by plant and corporate management

  • Participate in special projects as requested by Eco Central Controller

Job Requirements

Position Requirements

In addition to the necessary skills and experience to perform the responsibilities outlined above, there are a number of traits that a successful candidate will possess.

Technical

The Site Controller will be an accomplished finance professional with proven finance skills, solid business acumen and an ability to adequately manage their time to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner. Additionally, the candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • MBA preferred but not required

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • Sarbanes Oxley experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience with increasing responsibilities in business/financial support roles in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Experience with financial accounting software; SAP strongly preferred

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, particularly data extraction, table and query experience
