What you'll do

Key responsibility is to facilitate continuous improvement implementation and employee involvement via project development and management, team & personal training facilitation and coaching. The primary objective of the site continuous improvement leader is to coach and influence the site leadership and employees to implement and sustain a positive continuous improvement change culture and positively trending operational results within their scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the Lean / CI subject matter expert for their leader and assigned scope, the SCIL will teach, train, coach and facilitate, supporting Site Steering Committee (Leadership Team) and Employee Involvement teams.

  • Complete SCIL training, and other lean / CI training content as needed, to develop capabilities to meet business needs. Consistently and effectively apply, teach, model and coach in the use of GKN Lean Enterprise principles, methods and tools.

  • Member and key facilitator of Site Steering Committee

  • Works to involve everyone in the pursuit of sustained beneficial change demonstrated in consistently improving operational and financial performance KPIs.

  • Implements train-the-trainer approach and rapid, sustained implementation through learn-by-doing methods with co-workers at all levels

  • Co-creates, sustains and measures progress on the site Continuous Improvement Plan

  • Focus site teams on continuous improvement, by involving people in achieving and exceeding SQDC KPI targets

  • Facilitate improvement implementation through:

  • Employee teams (Site Steering Committee, Kaizen Teams, Process EI Teams, Project Teams, etc.)

  • CI / Kaizen Workshop event planning, leading, facilitating, follow-through

  • Team improvement project planning, leading, facilitating, follow-through

  • GKN Lean Enterprise Training and other training workshops

  • Facilitate continuous improvement projects and employee involvement teams throughout the site and within the common supply chain community; may support other complementary sites inside and outside GKN Driveline

  • Assure that improvements are effectively implemented, measured, driven to closure, sustained, handed over to leadership for sustainment and crossed as applicable to other cells, value streams, sites and operating units

  • Participate in Best Practice sharing, ensures Kaizen events and projects are recorded for electronic distribution on the A3 or similar format

  • Identify opportunities to implement common processes and best practices from other sites and businesses; Disseminate and act upon relevant industry and corporate benchmarking data

  • Assure that predicted savings are tracked, validated and posted to the site's operating results

  • Provide leadership, coaching and training in waste reduction wherever needed, facilitating lean thinking, lean production and lean business processes

About you

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering Degree Preferred) -OR- 10+ years of Lean/Continuous Improvement experience in lieu of a Degree
  • 2+ years of Continuous Improvement / Lean Production Tools (such as Toyota Production System, or similar)
  • Flexibility to work off-shifts when needed.

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

  • Must work exceptionally well in team environments and be adept at motivating co-workers 360

  • Must be a proven leader within a relevant discipline and a quick learner who is adaptive to and embraces change. Can effectively articulate, influence and model as a change leader.

  • Essential computer literacy: Corporate desktop environment such as Microsoft Office suite, database use, digital imaging and editing.

  • Promotes and has utilized essential facilitation and leadership skills.

  • Builds teams and acts as a role model in coaching, championing and driving change.

  • Envisions the future, has customer focus, solves problems and takes measured risks.

  • Fosters open communication, values learning and can build employee engagement and process effectiveness with demonstrated results.

  • Energetic, disciplined, focused & can see beyond and work through temporary barriers with minimal guidance.

  • Excellent organizational and planning, project management and influencing skills.

  • Must demonstrate ability to listen, challenge and communicate effectively.

The Continuous Improvement Manager will be based at our Roxboro, NC facility. Position Overview: The Continuous Improvement Manager will manage, plan, coordinate and lead the deployment of the Eaton Lean System and Eaton Continuous Improvement Strategy throughout the Roxboro facility in support of plant goals and objectives. Essential Responsibilities: * Initiate, lead, and facilitate successful Kaizen events/Continuous Improvement events and BPIs for the Roxboro facility. * Serve as Tool Expert in all ELSS/ CI Tools with emphasis on Value Stream Mapping, and 5S * Develop local ELSS/ CI Tool Champions and Experts by providing training and coaching support * Perform and validate ELSS assessments, and OpA self-assessments when required * Responsible for attainment of ELSS Assessment and ELSS Cost Savings objectives * Provide regular ELSS/ CI status updates to plant staff and facilitate plant CI Council * Provide additional support in other areas of Operational Excellence (EHS, EBE, OpA, EQS, EBS Pull and Quality Systems) as needed * Serve as an active member of the Roxboro plant leadership team * Drive Continuous Improvement Framework deployment (visual controls, daily accountability) * Drive deployment of VGNA region key process standards * Manage plant cost out projects execution via CI Tracker tool, at least monthly. Align with Finance team and monitor overall plant performance toward plant and division objectives for Cost Out activities * Facilitate kaizen events & rapid improvement events as required, especially for more advanced applications of ELSS tools or as part of training new tool facilitators. * Train and lead plant in CI tools, Continuous Improvement Framework, EBS Pull, and Rapid Improvement events through hands-on events. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required. * Minimum 4 years of Manufacturing and/or Operations experience. * Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
