Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Simulation Operation Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Simulation Operation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of simulation-based training programs for our students, faculty, and the community we serve. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of healthcare education and patient care.
The Simulation Operation Specialist (SimOps) IT Technician works in a team-based environment within the Cincinnati State HSL to assist the Director in the operation and maintenance of the AV system, IT system and operation of a variety of simulators. The SimOps will master the operation of and serve as an operations specialist for simulation scenarios that include IT, AV, and simulator scenario operations. The SimOps hours may vary by semester but will include evening and occasional weekend hours based on Simulation schedule.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate to support all technical aspects of the simulation before, during and after the simulation exercise/course/scenario, including direct interaction with the participants.
Operate and maintain simulation equipment, ensuring its functionality and readiness for training sessions.
Conduct routine equipment maintenance.
Prepare, program, clean, and operate all human patient simulator systems, simulation task trainers, associated medical equipment and computer/audiovisual equipment before, during and after the training exercises. Ensure appropriate set up & breakdown/clean up (moulage, staging) of simulation environment, equipment, and supplies.
Facilitate simulation sessions, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
Assist in the development and enhancement of simulation-based curriculum and educational materials.
Conduct debriefing sessions with participants, offering constructive feedback and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay informed about advancements in simulation technology and contribute to the integration of innovative technologies into training programs.
Maintain accurate inventory and organized storage of equipment (simulators, hardware, and software) and supplies.
Serve as resource for learners, educators, and community partner(s) in Cincinnati State HSL IT related inquiries.
Assist H.S.L. Director and faculty in monitoring students' safety.
Attend annual training as needed
Works well independently and multitasks with minimum direction.
Assist with tours and operation of simulators, IT and AV, equipment as deemed necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Healthcare, Education, Simulation Technology, etc.).
Familiarity with various simulation modalities and equipment.
Demonstrate working knowledge of a range of common audio -visual and IT hardware and software.
Possess basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
Strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
R.N. or experience in Healthcare related field for minimum of one year
Must possess excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
Position requires critical thinking, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating and decision making.
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, professionally and flexibly with others.
Skilled in or the ability to learn how to use databases and simulation equipment.
Preferred:
Master's Degree
5 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting or equivalent
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS certification).
Previous experience in Healthcare Simulation Operations.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS)
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens.
Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
Physical lifting ability of simulation manikins and equipment up to 150 lbs.
May be working in areas with the risk of electrical shock, near moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure and in high precarious places.
May be working in areas with latex exposure and no latex allergy requirement.
