Simulation Lab Manager facilitates the learning environment by ensuring the services necessary for simulation activities are delivered, including setting up and breaking down simulation labs for students and faculty use. Ensures that simulation labs are well-organized, clean, and orderly at all times. Management of supply inventory, ordering, and restocking supplies to support simulation education activities.

  • Understands the use and operation of different simulator technology

  • Ensure the Simulation Center and faculty follows the Standards of Best Practice from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL)

  • Work with faculty to develop, integrate, and evaluate simulation (collaborate with course faculty to design simulation activities)

  • Oversee simulation activities (coordinate flow of students; assist course faculty during simulation activities and debriefing)

  • Supervise/train new faculty and staff.

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems (e.g., manikins, computer software)

  • Develop interprofessional simulation opportunities (e.g., for students in the Speech-Language Pathology program)

  • Conduct ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, and assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order.

  • Maintain records of repairs required and completed.

  • Communicate with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and system problems.

  • Community outreach, e.g., offer simulation facilities to area healthcare agencies for the purpose of training and/or competency testing of nursing personnel

  • Inventory management, proposals, scheduling, and various other tasks as needed.

  • Inventory of supplies is haphazard - time is needed for a systematic and ongoing inventory.

  • Manikin and equipment cleaning and maintenance on a regular schedule.

  • Hardware and software updates on a regular schedule.

  • Evaluation of data that have been collected from students and faculty (Streamlining data collection and evaluation methods)

  • Integration of Valt video system, which includes training of faculty

  • Integration of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and electronic documentation of patient care into the simulated experiences (as opposed to paper documentation)

Further Professional Development and evaluation (data collection) for ALL faculty and staff.

An associate degree in technology or a health-related field is required.

Bachelor's degree or associate degree in nursing preferred.

Technical experience in troubleshooting manikins and other hardware, related computer

software, and video equipment

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred

Willingness to obtain CHSE or CHSOS training and certificate required. Coursework should be completed by six months of employment.

Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs.) and move manikins with the assistance of others.

Description of Hours:

20 hours/week: Tues: 2-8p, Wed: 2-8p, Thur: 12n-8p Hours are subject to change based upon student needs
