Salary Range:

$87,600 - $135,800

Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of silane production on an assigned shift to attain a safe work environment and efficient production levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following examples of duties and responsibilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.

  • Direct and coordinate daily production and processing activities during assigned shift of the Silane technical staff.

  • Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect production problems and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve them

  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and work with other unit superintendents on shift to optimize the plant operations and make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures and duty assignments.

  • Resolve personnel grievances in collaboration with Unit and Human Resource Manager

  • Ensure finished products are of prescribed quality and customer specifications.

  • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.

  • Interface with other departments (maintenance, production planning, Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), Process Safety Management (PSM) on urgent cross functional issues

  • Take measures to prevent failures, identify potential problems and put corrective actions in place to prevent adverse impact.

  • Maintain active status as plant emergency squad incident command staff member.

  • Hot work permit (HWP) authorized signer

  • Maintain compliance with all environmental and PSM regulations, codes, licenses, and reporting requirements for the Silane Unit

  • Lead and install a zero-incident culture among employees and contractors

  • Actively participates in RBS activities, incident investigations, process hazard analysis, management of change reviews, pre-startup safety reviews, and operating procedure reviews.

  • Support and promote plant safety systems and programs.

  • Maintain a culture of equipment and process awareness, by trouble shooting and taking action.

  • Train and qualify/certify operators and develop a supportive team-based culture within the shift team and promote good working relationships across shifts and units.

  • Maintain unit housekeeping by ensuring systems are in place, adhered to and audited for compliance.

  • Ensure work group is compliant with unit procedures, and company training and policies.

Qualifications

Incumbents must have demonstrated knowledge and abilities in these areas. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least one (1) year supervisory experience in manufacturing environment

  • Silane operating experience is strongly preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient computer skills including functionality in Microsoft Office Suite

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Working knowledge of labor law and HSE requirements

  • Ability to qualify for signing Hot Work Permits (HWP)

  • Ability to work with and engage people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Knowledge of company production processes/procedures and values. These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education, experience, and training. This combination will provide the competence to perform the work of the position.

Supervisory and Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule work assignments for all Silane Operators on assigned shift and deliver according to plan

  • Train and motivate subordinates to be safe, productive, and engaged employees.

  • Mentor and develop talent for future unit superintendents/managers.

  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in from team members.

  • Manage shift vacations, overtime, shift coverage, and performance of employees and approve hourly timecards.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the assistance of coworkers or lifting devices.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • Personal protective safety equipment, including respirators, hearing and eye protection, bunker gear (boots, pants, coats and gloves and Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) are required to be used.

  • Heavy lifting and carrying of victims may be necessary in case of an emergency. In this situation, the E-Squad member would carry a victim on a stretcher with a co-worker.

  • E-Squad member must be able to control and extinguish fires, to protect life and property, by handling hoses to direct water or chemicals onto fire and is qualified to administer first aid and CPR to injured persons and individuals overcome by fire and smoke.

  • Average aerobic capacity is required for E-Squad

Work Environment

  • The employee works in an indoor/outdoor manufacturing environment.

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • This position may require the employee to work a 12-hour rotating shift including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required and based on production needs, the company reserves the right to change or modify the schedule.

Emergency Response Job Requirements

The following is a list of essential job functions employees in an Emergency Response position may be required to perform in the event of an emergency.

  • Follow REC Emergency Response procedures, complete all training requirements and maintain physical fitness health requirements.

  • Operate as a member of a team and or independently at incidents for unspecified durations of time determined by incident needs.

  • Understand, obey and complete complex instructions in a timely manner as dictated by the incident commander.

  • Maintain a high level of attention and concentration during incidents while exercising good judgment.

  • Spend extended periods of time in outdoor elements and perform physical demanding tasks/activity while wearing personal protection equipment (PPE).

a. Outdoor elements may include extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity while performing duties.

b. Physically demanding tasks/activity may include work in atmospheres ranging from below freezing to extremely hot temperatures.

c. PPE (firefighting gear, self-contained breathing apparatus, etc.) weighs approximately 50 lbs. and significantly impairs body cooling.

  • Perform a variety of tasks on slippery or hazardous surfaces such as ladders or rooftops.

  • Work in environments of limited mobility, high noise, poor visibility, excess heights and or confined spaces.

  • Able to rely on human senses (sight, hearing, smell and touch) to determine the nature of the emergency and maintain personal safety.

  • Perform tasks during life threatening emergencies and deal with potential sights and smells associated with major trauma victims.

  • Ability to perform rapid transitions from rest to near maximum exertion.

  • Operate motorized vehicles, manual/power tools, or equipment as necessary.

  • Performing search and rescue of victims, possibly weighing over 200 pounds
