STARTING PAY: $18.20 HR
SUMMARY
Perform the more skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair of traffic control signal devices. Signal Technicians are expected to work independently on routine assignments; however professional superiors are available to advise and assist on unusual assignments. Employees in this class work as entry level technicians and may supervise Traffic Control Technicians and Utility Workers in portions of construction work. The work is performed under the supervision of the Traffic Signal Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Install and maintain and repair Traffic Signal and Pedestrian indications
Install and maintain Traffic Signal backplates and mounting materials
Trouble shoot Traffic Signal Cabinets
Perform basic wiring of signal heads and pedestrian heads
Hand program school flasher clocks
Construction work which includes installation of conduit, pull boxes, pole bases cabinet bases
Help set Signal poles and mast arms for new intersections
Perform preventative maintenance on traffic signals including cleaning lubricating or replacing defective parts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to use a computer for work processing and spreadsheet purposes.
Thorough understanding of general office and filing procedures
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions of the work
Ability to lead and supervise the work of Traffic Control Technician
Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately and efficiently on a consistent basis.
